When Dave Godin died in 2004 it looked like his superb Deep Soul Treasures' series would be buried with him. It has taken 15 years for it to be revived, a respectful distance to resurrect the music championed by a man who is credited with terming both the phrases 'Northern soul' and 'deep soul' as well as helped introduce Motown to Britain.For any of us who found Kent's Back To The River collection a slightly disappointing follow-up to their tremendous Take Me To The River box set this is water from a well we feared had run dry.Kent have mined historic interviews with Godin, re-discovered reviews he wrote in his Blues & Soul magazine half a century ago and talked to his fellow soul fans to produce another 25 lost treasures.Dead! by Caroline Sullivan will stop you in your tracks while Judy White's Satisfaction Guaranteed is just that.

Great - Follows in the footsteps of the previous four volumes. A great shame that Dave Godin is no longer with us.

Whether cos of passing of Dave or just diminishing returns not quite as good. That makes it 5th best deep soul comp ever....some fantastic gems.

A fantastic collection. 25 terrific tracks. Every true soul fan should have this series of CDs in their collection.
