Iโve wasted 12 years of buying razors..
Iโll preface this by saying I purchased this today and have only used it once. Iโll update this along at 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year of usage. I have a bald head and prefer my face shaved. Iโve been shaving my head for the past 12 years, and my face for almost 15 years (in my earth 30โs). I have an awful, thick cul-de-sac natural hair growth pattern, and hate the way my head looks after about 3 days of razor shaving my head, but it is honesty such a PITA that I usually only do it every Sunday morning, but by Sunday Iโm looking pretty rough. I prefer my face shaven, but grow tired of the intense razor burn and bumps I always get on my chin and neck. So the only way to minimize the rash is to use a super fresh, sharp razor, but shaving my face and my head multiple times a week with only 1-2 uses per blade has really been racking up some serious coin over the years. So I usually just run the Clippers with no guard over my face and settle for some minor stubble. After watching some YouTube channels trying to find some videos on the best, easiest, cheaper way to razor shave my head, I found a video discussing how Dwayne โThe Rockโ Johnson shaves his head, and I was shocked to see him holding an electric shaver (not this, but the Braun Series 9 Pro). I knew nothing about electric shavers whatsoever. Iโve never even personally met a man that has experience with them, so I spent about a week researching them. After watching a dozen or so hours worth of shaver reviews on YouTube, it pretty much came down to this shaver, the Panasonic Arc5 and the Braun Series 9 Pro. Multiple videos corroborated each other by saying the Arc 5 gets a much closer shave, but the Braun is way more forgiving for a newbie. My cul-de-sac flashed before my eyes and I knew I needed the closest shave possible to fend off this thick horseshoe on my scalp. I received this model today, charged it for about an hour, and nervously stuck it to my face. Was it going to pull? Was it going to pinch? How could this thing actually cut the hair when you canโt see or feel any sharp edges? I did one there-and-back pass over my cheek and all the hair was gone. Just like magic. I quickly did my whole face and head and Iโm absolutely BLOWN AWAY with the simplicity and effectiveness of this device. I did my whole head and face in about 10 minutes, but the hair was pretty thick on both regions, and I was going slow as I built confidence with it. I imagine I could do my head and face every other day in prob 5 mins or less. There are spots that I guess I pressed harder on then others, and those spots are completely smooth with no stubble felt whatsoever. I would say if on a scale of 1-10 and ten is sharp, long stubble and a razor shave is a 0, this shaver left my head and face at about a 0.5-1.0. Itโs pure magic. The hair gets trapped inside and isnโt all over me or the sink. When Iโm done I just pop the top off and rinse it out. I canโt believe I went my whole life without using an electric foil shaver. I immediately started texting all of my bald friends to recommend them throw away their razors and get them one of these. I would say Iโm pretty hard to impressโIโve been using Amazon for close to a decade with dozens of items ordered a month and Iโve only left a handful of reviews. This product warrants the praise and is WORTH EVERY PENNY.

A clean shave and an attempt to make the blades last longer
Salient Points: I have a heavy beard. I have been shaving for 60 years. I tried an electric razor at age 17, ouch. Never again. I use Shick Hydro 5 for as long as they have been out, best shave ever. Have recent heart conditions, on 2 different blood thinners...a nick takes an hour to scab over. decided to switch to electric. Oddly enough, my first purchase was this Panasonic. Excellent. I slap on some Williams 'Lectric shave and in about 3 minutes, the shaving is done and it gives an amazingly close shave. I take great care in cleaning it . NEXT: My son in law, not knowing I had already purchased an electric razor, got me a nice Norelco with the floating heads. Decent enough shave, no pinching, but it cannot get as close as the Panasonic. My routine is this: I shave for about a minute with the Norelco, then pick up the Panasonic. A minute later, a very smooth shave results. No irritation at all from either. But, the Norelco replacement blades are cheaper so I let them do the initial heavy work and the Panasonic comes in for an easy clean-up. Thus, I think, letting the blades last longer. Summary: No irritation. Panasonic beats Norelco by a good mile IF your goal is a whisper clean shave. If you want "to get the worst', Norelco does fine. Norelco is easier to clean up. Maybe it is because I treat the Panasonic more carefully.

Durable quality shaver but came with an open box and missing charger
The Panasonic ARC 5 ES-LV67 is a great product which in this day manufctred in Japan which is known for its quality and durability. Panasonic ARC 5 ES-LV67 does an excellent job with providing you a clean close shave. Have been using it as a dry shaver and the performance is truly incredible. The only thing is that my Panasonic ARC 5 ES-LV67 arrived with a tampered open box and the charger was missing. This one is one of the few times or actually one of its first kind that the Amazon delivery with Amazon as a seller the box arrived with the open box and the charger was missing.. Amazon gave me a small credit enough to purchase a replacement charger and instead of returning the shaver I decided to keep it. Have been using regularly and getting clean comfortable close shaves as good as the razor blade shave. So all in all very good product specially when you have to leave early morning for work and i had to shave before going to sleep but now the new Panasonic ARC 5 ES-LV67 does the job for me without worrying about spending the time and effort for a regular shave. But the open box does take the satisfaction and experience of a sealed box away.. Hey but then it was my decision to stick with it.. As I said it was a small credit given by Amazon and then the price had also gone up if I wanted to cancel and reorder a new one.. Even with the made in Japan product and the excellent quality I still think the price point is a little higher which comes with a brand name like Panasonic otherwise the Chinese brands with similar specs are priced around 30% less.. Its still very early to give a true verdict on the long term durability of the shaver but prior experience with Panasonic shavers they do pay for themselves with their quality and durability.. Would recommend this Panasonic ARC 5 ES-LV67 for anyone who wants a close and comfortable shave both dry and wet..

Just about perfect
Coming from a guy who cuts his face to ribbons trying to use regular razors because of my super tough facial hair this razor is a godsend with shaving gel. It's the only combo I found so far that lets me get my entire upper lip right up to my nose and all the way up to the edge of my sideburns while getting a good close shave almost as good as using a regular razor without cuts. I got a tiny Nick just below my lower lip one time from pressing too hard I guess but I've been using it for a couple of weeks and it's been smooth sailing without nicks or leaving any kind of red chafing. Money well spent.

Best close electric shave Iโve had in years
I have used Braun and Norelco shavers for many years. Braun didnโt give me that close of a shave but it was very loud. The Norelco shavers were quiet but didnโt give that close of a shave. This Panasonic shaver is pretty quiet and gives me a very close shave, very satisfied with this shaver!

FANTASTIC BUT AN UPDATE
UPDATE: As you will read, my initial review below was favorable and I still believe in the product but somehow a very small area on one of the foils became compromised causing cuts to my face. I had to put my glasses on to see the damage on the foil but the damage was already done to my skin. I take extreme care of everything I own and this shaver was never dropped, got hit, or anything else to cause the damage and I certainly didn't expect a brand-new device to malfunction. I initiated a return but also called Panasonic to report what happened in case they wanted the unit for close inspection. Pictures were sent as requested and they responded saying the manual states that the shaving head should be inspected prior to each use. As I clean the head each time and leave it off to dry, I look at it as I'm putting it back on but this area was so small I didn't notice it. They offered reimbursement for me to order a replacement head but I'm now looking at the ARC 6 even though the cost is over twice as much. To me, I believe the damaged area was already compromised but not showing until it broke off or given that the foil is so thin that possibly the tensile strength didn't hold up. ______________________________________________________ I did a little research into new shavers so with this Panasonic appearing over and over, I decided to give it a whirl and so glad I did. My short whiskers come in at different angles in some places so a foil shaver has always been the most recommended. The previous brand I had for many years never gave the close shave I wanted but everything has changed for the better with the Panasonic ARC5. The head moves easily in every direction providing the fastest closest shave I've ever had from an electric. Cleaning is a breeze with the ultra-sonic cycle that really does the trick. I won't keep going on and on because everything about this shaver is great for my needs. Let's just say I used to never look forward to shaving but now I do!

Great Shaver
I have a thick and tough beard and this shaver seems give me a close shave for an electric razor. Much better than the German Braun it replaced. Not quite as good an actual razor blade shave but close enough for a quicker and less messy shave. Another great made in Japan high quality product.

1 month with Arc 5 vs Gillette Mach 5
For reference Iโm an older man who needs to shave daily for work. I often stop shaving on the weekends and can get 3-4 days of growth. Over the past few years Iโve looked for the best shave I can get. Iโve settled on using a brush, one of the many whipped shaving soaps, and a Gillette Mach 5 razor. While I believe my skin is somewhat sensitive, I donโt have razor burn or ingrown hairs. I wanted to try an electric razor in an attempt to try something new, but also to allow me to travel with less stuff. The Panasonic Arc5 was chosen based on reviews and price. I was willing to spend a little more money in the hopes of getting it right. Here are my thoughts after 1 month of use. For daily shaving, this razor works very well. I donโt know that I care for it dry as it tends to drag along the skin and Iโm left with some minor razor burn. Using it wet in the shower is an option, but I prefer to use it with shaving soap and a brush. It doesnโt save any time over using a normal razor, in fact, it may take longer. Under the best of conditions, the Panasonic shaves as close as the Mach 5. I literally did a side x side on each half of my face. Both were pretty much the same. Where the difference is made is the neck. The Mach 5 out performs the Panasonic quite handily here. I believe its because of the size of the head, while the Arc 5 has a lot of swivel to it, its also quite large. The smaller manual razor can get into all of the contours that the Panasonic doesnโt quite reach. Donโt get me wrong, its possible to pull skin tight and get a better shave, just not something Iโm used to. Itโs also easier to miss a spot altogether using the Arc 5. Where the Panasonic Arc 5 is much better than a manual razor is when your hair gets a little longer. After 3-4 days of growth, the razor tends to drag and pull hair more, making it uncomfortable to shave. The Panasonic handles longer hair like a champ. Iโll be using this pretty much every Monday morning. Iโm not disappointed with the Panasonic Arc 5, it actually does better than I expected. Iโll continue to use my 5 blade Gillette and soap. I kind of like the daily ritual and the feel after shaving. But the electric has a place. Itโs less to pack while traveling - I can use it in the shower with standard bar soap. It works better with longer stubble. Battery life is pretty good, I was surprised that after using my Arc 5 almost daily for about 2 weeks the charge dropped to 40%. I donโt typically travel for more than 2 weeks but its good to know that when I do I need to pack the charging cable also.
