Great book for a concise introduction to critical theory. Goes more in depth than other introductory texts with detailed analysis of arguments and historical background

As a guide introducing Critical Theory and major philosophers of the Frankfurt School, Ingram is worth the slog. Ideas flow at firehose volume, often requiring a second or third reading (or at least more coffee), and source citations and quotations get major points across. I used this to select a few books for follow up study, and a few to reject (because life is too short). Grammarians and punctuators will be driven insane by overuse of italics, occasional typos, and constant abuses of commas setting off dependent clauses; any subsequent editions should seek a trained copy editor instead of the barbarian who failed on this one.
