D-Link Systems Wireless AC1200 Simultaneous Dual Band Gigabit PoE Access Point (DAP-2660)

Long time enterprise dlink product user and this item doesn't disappoint. Have it installed in the middle of the home on the wall over POE and provides both 2&5ghz full coverage throughout with no issue as well as backyard and to the street.Band steering works perfectly as well. Documentation isn't clear about it however you have to have the same SSIDs setup to be the same on both bands for it to work.Fast throughput on all my devices. I recommend this the AP for a large home with no hesitation for great coverage.

This is the first time that I'm happy from a AC/Router/Extender and believe me I tried a lot. The management / setup software sucks but it is a small price to pay compare to other enterprise class product that you will add $100 more to put your hands on it like the slick Ubiquiti Networks UniFi AC Enterprise WiFi System - UAP-AC Ubiquiti Networks UniFi AC Enterprise WiFi System - UAP-AC

Its a good POE router with lots of capabilities.Positives: VLAN configuration DHCP configuration on or off Multi-SSID support It came with power plugs even thought it said it didn't This was convenient to configure the router.Negatives: Having used many small business routers, this web administration and documentation were by far the worst I have seen. You must plug into it in order to configure it. DHCP can't be configured for specific VLANs only. Surprisingly, there is no guest network support. You can create another SSID - but it doesn't have the "normal" terms agreement page or temporary licensing Setting QoS per VLAN seems impossible to configure and QoS doesn't seem to work well at all. Did I say how bad the documentation was? It tells you no more than here is a picture of the broken web administration and explains the fields. No general scenarios or instructions - you must be an expert to use these. The router doesn't seem to be able to update the router by itself - instead requires you to download it and upload it separately...then wipes all of your settings.In the end, I would buy it again because of price for capabilities and performance. But my degree is in telecomm and I have worked around that for 10+ years. if you aren't an expert in this sort of technology, I would stay FAR away from this router.

This access point is not for the novice... It does however work well, it covers my entire house where others have had issues doing so. I have suggested this unit to multiple friends and I hear nothing but rave reviews from them.

Excellent product. Easy to configure and manage.

It did not do what I needed it to do, which was function as a wifi extender to my swimming pool. Not good setup info with it, either.

What a great unit - I'm cover a small office with just one unit. Very small - a little bigger than a smoke detector. Includes a very well-thought outmounting bracket as well.

Excelente producto. Soporta VLANS, PoE, multi SSID, y se puede poner en arreglo sim necesidad de controladora. 50 usuarios simultáneos sin problema.

Hab den AP bei mir im Keller angebracht das ich dort auch WIFI habe. Die Haltplatte wird mit zwei Schrauben befestigt. AP wird nur draufgesteckt. Versorgung über PoE ohne Probleme wurde vom Switch gleich erkannt. Mit der begefügten CD lässt er sich auch leicht einrichten und es entfällt das suchen nach der Netwerk ID.

I purchased 3 @ £62.54 each (inc VAT) of these in April 2019 which was a follow up order. We now operate several in our Victorian offices. These units look smart, are easy to set up and appear to be rock-solid. Signal strength is not quite as good as some units I have used (perhaps the Zyxel below is a tad better), but frankly it's pretty much up there.I have a 400Mbps/400Mbs connection. With an 802.11ac connecting device 10 feet away, (eg my Nexus 2 phone) the connection still bottlenecks on the internet connection - I get about 380Mbps down, 390Mbps up on Ookla, albeit 2 or 3ms ping. I get similar speeds wired, but with 1ms ping. The connection drops down when separated by a thin brick wall - but still 300/300 roughly. I'm happy with that. Most users in my offices never need that speed and are either running off 802.11n laptops (you get about 80/80) or are bottlenecking on processor speed/memory.I like the D-Link web interface. It also has the security features I like - eg I can set one SSID to operate a bit like public wifi - nodes are isolated from each other and other SSIDs, whilst another SSID can operate as a private LAN, so people can see their wireless printers etc. I can do all I need without dabbling with VLANs or more complex setups. I have a few Zyxel NWA1123-ACV2 units. I have found the Zyxel "everything is an object" interface more cumbersome to set up and couldn't quite achieve the SSID arrangement I wanted.I suppose a downside is that it doesn't come with a power adapter. PoE is fine for me, but a power adapter can be useful for setting up before putting the unit onto a live network. The manual doesn't specify the power adapter required, almost implying it's a legacy feature no longer used. The socket isn't labelled with the voltage, but having pulled one apart, the circuit board is printed with 12Vdc 1.5A. Certainly 12V works - indeed it typically uses very much less current than 1.5A and can take a significant voltage drop (down to about 8V) if you need to run a long cable. Current rises below about 9V so I wouldn't push it that far. Annoyingly it's not a standard 2.1mm barrel. I found a 1.7mm barrel (+ve inner) fitted nicely, though not much clearance if you're using this via an adapter.I have returned to buy more, but am disappointed to see that this model is now £97. The Zyxels are cheaper and I can get away with those - but really I prefer the D-Links! I'll hold off for a while to see if the price drops back.

Very powerful AP. Mine is running at 25% power and my phone picks it up on 2.4GHz from more than 200ft distance. The only downside to it is the GUI - there's nothing wrong with it, but it could be more up to date. Also, making an open source firmware would benefit everybody. You can also go Ubiquity, but you need to shell more money. Very good AP for the money though.
