Does it have some sort of protective film on it that we have to peel off after application??

No it does not have a protective film that peels off. Make sure you have it in the right place the first time because once it's on it's very difficult to remove and reapply. But it does work, I have had in on my car for two years and it still looks good, it does not show scratches.

Does this yellow over time?

I've had it applied for over a year and no yellowing.

I want to affix this tape to a magnet so the magnet doesn't slide down our magnetic board. Is the outer surface slick/slippery or is it tacky? Thanks
