Men check the HDL result from your lipid panel. If the result is greater than 49 you can reduce the risk of heart attack by raising HDL with vitamin D3. Higher HDL stabilizes the arterial plaque that prevents the rupture that causes the clot that causes the heart attack. Vitamin D levels are low in practically everyone who is not supplementing with Vitamin D3. Even at 10,000iu daily it takes at least 6 months to get Vitamin D levels greater than 75. With vitamin D levels greater than 75 HDL levels will start to climb, not quickly, but steadily, at a rate of about 1 point per month. It doesn't sound like much, but six months later the HDL has risen 6 points and risk of a heart attack has fallen! Other points: a few people cannot handle 10,000iu daily. The symptoms are stomach issues. This strategy will not work for you. Next, Vitamin D levels rise gradually, but if doses are missed, the levels plummet like a stone! HDL under 40, this strategy will not work for you. HDL levels 40-49 is a gray area. The outcome is unpredictable.
