So dang sharp, absolutely worth it
Out of the box this knife was out of this world sharp, unlike anything from the kit I started with. I love the overall quality of the knife. There isn't anything else I could ask of it. I've been using it for the past 3 weeks to whittle Christmas presents for my family and it has been a major upgrade. The reason I came back to write this review is due to the fact that I read someone complaining about how dull their knife was and didn't think it was worth it. After having used this knife extensively, I can majorly disagree with that statement and I have the cuts to show for it. This knife is incredibly sharp and will remain sharp if correctly stropped. It's so sharp that the cuts you potentially get on your fingers are SIGNIFICANTLY cleaner than anything else, no joke. Its a weird metric for quality trust me I understand haha.

If you're considering it, buy it
I own a ton of knives. But I'd never considered how great the bevel on this would be for woodworking until it was recommended to me. It's a totally different tool. I'm sure there are fancier ones and cheaper ones. I wouldn't bother with either. Just buy this. If you're even looking at this, you'll love it. The blade is great out of the box and holds an edge well. It is so easy to hone freehand because of the huge bevel. I mostly just touch it up after longer sessions with a fine grit or just a strop. I only have had to really sharpen once because of a very abusive mistake against concrete. It is really comfortable in the hand. Like "you don't think about the tool while you use it" comfortable. Just an instant extension of the body. It complements chisels well for finer work and leaves a perfect tool mark free finish. I played with carving green wood and that was a blast. I imagine if you're into whittling or spoons it would be perfect. I've mostly used it on dry hard and soft woods for detail, tight curves, touching up chamfers, etc. It works well with and across the grain. The only downside is that the sheath is plastic. I'll probably replace that at some point, but it works fine and it's not like that was some kind of surprise. The sheath is still well made for what it is. I've never put it on my belt, though. I can't dock it for that. But a nicer sheath will be nice, because I'd like to have it near me whenever I'm working.

Mora says it all.
This is a knife with a tang that passes through the handle to keep the blade secure and tight. The blade is 106mm, made of Mora's laminated steel (center of high-carbon very tough steel in a sandwich between 2 milder steel sides) that comes razor-sharp with a pointy tip for carving small features and with the Nordic-style edge that's easy to sharpen. This is a carving knife that COULD also be used for bush-craft, but you'll want to reserve it for fine and critical cutting, and use your OTHER knife for the rough-stuff. The handle is of the traditional oiled Birch and a bit small, but it's compact. I find that wrapping these smaller handles for a better grip makes the knife more useful and gives you better leverage for cutting. A great little knife, made the old-fashioned way, although the sheath is plastic, which holds the knife securely. You can really push the knife into the sheath and it will stay that way until you give it a twist to pull out the knife. Remember: Always cut away, NEVER towards yourself...!

Great knife for carving wood. Quality made.
This is an excellent knife for wood carving. For the price, I don't see how you could do any better. I just got done carving a project for several hours and it performed wonderfully. The edge stayed very sharp throughout, with no need to strop. The blade came very sharp, there was a small wire edge in some areas of the cutting edge, but I don't mind that on a $20 knife. I stropped the knife and revitalized it to it's intended razor state. The grind of the blade is perfect for woodworking, as there is no relief edge, apart from the main grind. This allows for very precise cuts with very little unintended drift. The tip of this knife is very fine and perfect for detail work. My only cons for this knife are that the handle is a completely symmetrical tapered oval cylinder shape. Although this is ergonomically comfortable, there is no distinction on the handle which way you are supposed to hold for the cutting edge to be facing outwards. Although this may seem like common sense, The blade being almost a mirror polish, your eye does not always tell you the correct information when working on a project for several hours. There were several times that I picked the knife up and was about to press into a cut with the cutting edge against my thumb. Luckily, I realized my mistake before any injury. I will probably carve the handle and put some finger grooves and this will solve this problem. Also don't expect much from the sheath, it's just a cheap plastic sleeve that the knife sort of fits into, the belt carry tab is pretty much unusable. I removed it. Again, for the price I'm not really complaining. The sheath does it's job protecting the edge and nothing more.

Amazing carving knife. It arrived super sharp and ready to use. I've been using it for several hours a day, daily for over a week on kiln dried wood, dry wood and wood that's a few months old. I haven't needed to sharpen it at all and have been maintaining the razor sharp edge using a strop regularly. The handle is very comfortable and gippy. It's also great for different types of holds. I have no fear of my hand slipping onto the blade as that would mean I'm craving all wrong and using the knife inappropriately. The blade length is great for roughing out, doing cross bowl cuts on spoons, cups etc. And the narrow point is great for sharp turns and tight places. The sheath is nothing to write home about. It doesn't hold the knife very tight and it would likely fall out if I tipped it upside down. It does protect the blade though and keep it from going dull. I keep the knife in the sheath in a case with my other tools so right now it's not an issue. I do plan on modifiying it eventually or making a leather sheath for it. Just don't trust it when picking it up or moving it around. I did cause a very very tiny chip on it while carving kiln dried wood. But that was my fault from trying to carve off to much at once. That being said carving kiln dried wood is not the best use of this tool. This knife is better suited for green wood or wood that has been cut more recently. The spoon and butter knife in my picture were carved with the 106 and 120 on 5-6 month old birch. I had no issues and these knives performed wonderfully. This knife is an excellent carving tool and I would definitely recommend it.

Mora blades are wonder quality and trust me just one Mora blade will be more valuable to you than a dozen cheaper ones. The steel is Superb quality and holds its sharpness for very long periods of time. No fancy handles just simple beech wood of a very simple design that is easy to hold. The handle feels great to hold with a nice balance when carving. Good quality tools also help keep the user safe, their sharpness cuts through the wood with less pressure required, which means the less force used, the less likely hood of slipping and getting getting hurt. Cheaper blades blunt quicker resulting in having to use more force, which results in the possibility of slipping and getting cut. In a nutshell Mora blades are great quality and good to carve with. They also help to cut down the chance of accidental injury.
