Tilly and the Buttons: Make it Simple: Easy, Speedy Sewing Projects to Stitch up in an Afternoon

I've made two things from this book (well, two patterns across three garments -- two pairs of the Safiya trousers and the Tabitha t-shirt) but holy cow they were so easy and look amazing. I've never sewn clothes before, and these directions are so clear and the pictures are incredibly helpful. I just bought some more fabric to make a Tabitha dress and some Juno pajama bottoms. I definitely take longer than the pattern says, but that's because I'm going super slow and careful! Taking my time, trying to make everything nice and even -- just like the book says to do. Hooray! Recommended!

The patterns are layered so it is tricky to trace but otherwise it's a great deal! Not as thorough instructions as individual Tilly patterns but still very good.The Tabitha tee is so well drafted and the safiya trousers are simple and have a great fit.I wouldn't say this would be for a complete beginner to sewing. Personally I think it would be overwhelming but if you know someone who sews that could help a bit that would work!

I was so excited to get this book and it didn't disappoint. Included are 6 patterns projects, all suitable for a beginner (or a seasoned sewer to get fancy with) and delightful tips and easy to follow instructions. One thing I really love is if you purchase the book, you can go online and download the print-at-home versions of the patterns for free. I immediately did that so I can leave the book patterns folded in the back. I have read comments online complaining about the patterns in the book being double sided. Yes, you will need to trace the patterns as they are double sided...but that is fairly common for patterns included with books. Or you can print at home like I did. :) All in all, a wonderful book! Even better...if you follow TillyButtons on Instagram, there is a sew-a-long for the Safiya trousers.

I love this book. Yes, the patterns are very simple, but that's what I was looking for. I'm an intermediate/advanced seamstress, but my sewing has been languishing for the last year. I have children and find my time slips away. I was attracted to this book because I read that Tilly had broken down each step into 15-30 min chunks and that seemed incredibly doable to me. I just completed my Safiya Trouser muslin by following the steps and not feeling like I had to get the whole project done in 1 or 2 sittings. The pants are very cute and I dug into my stash and found a deep blue linen to make a pair in.I foresee quite a few projects coming from this book that will be perfect for the summer weather!

This is my second Tilly and The Buttons book. I purchased "Stretch" right after it came out and loved it, so I pre-ordered "Make it Simple." I absolutely adore "Make it Simple." The asthetic and the content are both lovely. The written directions and pictures make it all very clear for how to cut out and assemble your project. It helps you choose your fabric, make simple adjustments and sew it together. It's full of quick projects that's sewists of all levels will enjoy. If you're just starting out with garment making, the book goes over sewing terms and quick tips to help you be successful. I can't reccomend this book enough.

I have been spoiled by patterns from Tilly and the Buttons. They are so simple to put together with a beautiful result. This book includes just about all you need to know for sewing basics (with photos) in addition to the patterns, so if you’re trying to teach yourself sewing, this is an excellent choice. And let’s be honest, all the bright beautiful colors in the book just make me happy to look at it too.

As far as the product goes, it's a super cute book filled with lots of useful tips, especially if you're new to sewing. Lots of quick and fun patterns that each come variations so you can try something new with each make. I've so far made the Safiya jumpsuit, which I actually turned into a dress instead by adding a simple gathered skirt. Looking forward to the Juno Pajamas and the Bertha Cardigan next!As for delivery though, mine did come a little bent around the edges ):

Tilly and the Buttons Make it Simple is a fantastic book for beginners. I have sewed pillows and curtains, mended items and hemmed but have shyed away from making garments - no need to be scared! This books walks you thru everything you need to know in clear and digestible steps. I made to Juno Pajamas and they turned out great! I'm so proud of them and have cut out 3 more projects- I can't wait to get sewing.

I just got my book today and I love it! Its so pretty with all the pictures and its so colorful I cant wait to just sit down with a cup of tea to enjoy it. It is very detailed and I am extremely new to sewing so this helps a lot. I read a lot of reviews on amazon about missing patterns and all I can say is look closely it comes with three folded pattern booklets. All the patterns are there just take time to open them and read the pattern names!!! AND as an added bonus if you "still" cant find the pattern you are looking for guess what! In the book it tells you that you can download the pdf from the website. Don't rush just read it properly and follow the instructions online. Can't wait to start sewing some of these patterns.

Great book, perfect for beginners or intermediate. You will need tracing paper as all the patterns are overlaid on 3 pages so cannot cut out directly. Instructions are great, really detailed with pictures. Perfect for learning to sew your own clothes!

Adorei o livro. Ele está em inglês mas as instruções são claras e com várias fotos. Além disso os modelos são simples e bonitos, prefeito para iniciantes na costura. O livro também já vem com os moldes, cada um em um lado da folha, o que é muito interessante já que é fácil de copiá-los e seguir com a costura.

¡Me encanta este libro! La edición está súper cuidada, todo al mínimo detalle: la paleta de colores, diversidad en las modelos (de todas las tallas, razas y edades)... Además los patrones son, como bien dice el título, muy simples pero resultones. El paso a paso está muy bien explicado y de un patrón te saca varias opciones muy variadas. Aunque no este traducido, te viene un glosario con la explicación de qué es cada cosa por lo que es fácil de entender.

Beautiful book from an amazing sewist, though I am yet to make any of the items, I just love reading the instructions which make so much sense and the tips.
