I want to use this by powering it on and off via the USB lead only, do you have to press the button to turn it on, or is it just for toggling modes?

Press button to turn it on, press again to toggle to next setting, press again to turn off. Hold down for 2 secs to get the light on.

Followed the manual, still not working. Also why does it make a piercing noise?

It works when the light is on but mine is very quiet. Whilst it is small and compact, I do not find it very effective and therefore not good value for money

Has anyone tried using essential oils with this?

No. You’re not supposed to. Plus the filter plate is very fine it will probably cause issues in future if you use oils with it

Where can I buy filters for this device?

I’ve seen Amazon also offer a 5 pack for the filters...I haven’t yet needed to buy a set yet but that was my plan.
