Review: Invaluable resource for DIY Europe trip - Rick Steves guides are hands down the best resources for planning a DIY European trip. I’d have missed so much had I not used the guide. Easy to navigate and create unique, meaningful itineraries aligned with my interests. I especially like the historical information provided for points of interest. Sometime the walking directions are less than clear or a price or a venue opening hour is different than published, but overall, very reliable. Highly recommend. Review: Excellent resource - Love every Rick Steves book we've ever purchased and this one was no exception!

Awesome book!
The best book ever! I showed it to a friend who lived in Germany and he said it was very thorough and helpful! My husband and I cannot wait to see Germany and carry the wealth of this knowledge with us. It is helping us decide what to do.

Worked Well for Us (Kindle Edition May Not Be for You)
We usually read a few guide books and websites in preparation for trips then bring a Rick Steves book with us when visiting Europe. This book had good information that really helped us out, especially when used in conjunction with Rick Steves' Audio Europe, available free for Android and iPhone. (The audio walking tours basically were the same as the written walking tours in the book but it's much convenient to listen and walk than to read and walk.) There was really only one place we went that the book didn't cover. However, that info also wasn't covered in the other book we brought and we enjoyed the place fine without additional information. On past trips we brought a physical copy of Steves' books. This was the first time we brought the Kindle version. It's actually pretty good in digital format but next time I'll go back to a physical book. It's easier to find bookmarks and I can write notes in the margins. It's also easier and faster to move from place to place in a real book. It does take up space that the digital version didn't but I still think it's worth bringing a real book over the convenience of the digital version.

Worth Every Cent
I was a college student in Germany 40 years ago, so I didn't think I would need help and I bought this book just for the city walk sections. When I arrived I was hit with unexpected culture shock and found the book very helpful in remembering the little things, like how to buy tickets for the underground. The only suggestion I found to be less helpful was buying a money belt, which I dragged all over Germany and never used. It did make me extra security conscious, however, so even that paid off to a degree. I couldn't get into any of the recommended hotels, but the restaurant recommendations were spot on, even two years later. If you're going to Germany, but this book. I read it once while I was deciding where to go and then again right before getting there and found it very helpful on both occasions.

Rick Steves Germany 2020
We looked for a book that would help a relative enjoy visiting Germany. We wanted to find one that gave helpful ideas about museums, parks, food, customs, etc. RIck Steves' book is excellent and I have read quite a few of them. I recommend his tour guides, especially this new updated one for Germany in 2020. Well done, Rick!

Not as helpful as earlier books
I’ve purchased Ricks books many years ago to start my adventures in Europe and always found them very well written and helpful but this time it seemed different. I used to appreciate the details, such as “walk out of the Bahnhof and look to the left. The hotel is 100 meters down that street”. I used to recommend his books for that reason. Now it seems all brushed over with so many options just very briefly discussed and harder to figure out without doing lots of your own research and not fast to use on the fly while on the trip. Didn’t end up being as helpful. Sad.
