The ultimate Ford flathead resource for hot rodders and restorers. The last commercially produced Ford Flathead V-8 was cast over 60 years ago. Simple by today's high-tech standards, during its performance reign from the late '30s through the mid '50s, the flathead was unsurpassed for go-fast power on the cheap. It spawned the modern aftermarket speed-equipment industry and became a favorite of bootleggers, dry-lakes racers, dirt trackers, street racers, and a whole generation that just wanted fast cars. Whether you're restoring a classic Ford, building a traditional hot rod, or creating a period custom car, you'll want to get the most out of its vintage flathead V-8. Great about building a top-quality, semi-full race flathead. Doubt many people will go to all the work outlined, nor have the facilities or tools to do so.That's a big, expensive, project. I'm guessing $ 6K minimum.

Initially I found this to be missing some information like torque patterns for head bolts (it is in there), but after reading Tony Thacker's book I came back to this one and found it had way more information than I had originally thought. Well done book and a great compliment to the other one, together they make a great pair.

A must have for the Ford Flat Head enthusiast!
An amazing book. Excellent examples of the various Ford Flat Head V8 engines and all their nuisances throughout the years of production. Great photographs and clear concise step-by-step easy to follow instruction of how to strip down, inspect and rebuild this classic motor. I would have never found some of the well hidden bolts if not for this book. Some of the resources referenced were no longer available, but that is only due to age and businesses closing over time. Beyond that, this is an excellent reference book to have on hand before you buy your motor or if you already have one on hand.Highly recommended if you are starting in on a Flat Head V8 of your own.
