Methocel 8oz Pkg for Marbling

This product is used to thicken the water so that marbling dyes or inks stay on top of the surface and can be manipulated into patterns. It works well - but what they don't mention in the description is that you will also need a bottle of clear ammonia (to add a small amount) to the water to help it set up. This is not a big deal, as ammonia is cheap and available in just about every grocery & dollar store - but something you should have on hand so you can be ready to use it when it arrives.

Long last, inexpensive, and overall great product.

First time trying Methocel instead of Carrageenan. I have mixed 4 batches of Methocel following the directions on the packaging each time. My paint dropped to the bottom each time. I went out to search on "the right recipe" for mixing methocel and got a different recipe than what is on the packaging (very different) -- however my paint still dropped to the bottom like a lead ball! Paint is new and works just fine with the Carrageenan mixture I have sitting next to it. I will never use this product again but I will stick with Carrageenan -- never had a problem with that product yet.

Did exactly what I needed it to for paper marbling. I didn't need to use any ammonia as one of the other reviewers stated. This worked better for me than any other method I've tried, the carageenan, etc. etc.

Actually came just in time for my class and wasn't expecting it too! Great product, worked perfectly for our marbling project. I tried other additives to my water and none worked as perfectly as the Methocel.

Easy to find in search, fast delivery. It's a reasonable abount of the product for home use. Perfect for my project.
