Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Hard Shaving Soap Refill, 3.5-Ounce, (01051)

I hadn’t realized that the previous shave soap was used up so quickly, as it was the first one that I had used that was soft instead of hard. I loved how quickly this soap lathered up with my brush and did not get watery while on my face. The scent is nice and I had some concerns that it would be a bit too strong, based on the scent straight out of the box. However, it has a subtle scent that is not overpowering.I like that value this soap gives, as I believe it may last me at least 2 years, based on other hard shaving soaps. As I bought 2 straight razors (Thiers Issard) and sharpening stones (Norton 1000/4000 & 4000/8000 grit), soap is the only part of my shaving set that I have bought in over 20 years.

This shaving soap lathers up very well and very thick and creamy . I use a pre shaving treatment that softens the facial hair which makes the razor glide over the skin for a close and comfortable shave .

Exactly the scent and quality I was looking for.

This doesn’t has much of a Sandalwood scent but does produce a nice lather. Not too thick or foamy. Smells like traditional shaving soap, which I like.

We were looking for a less expensive alternative to Art of Shaving. My husband is very happy with the product, and I love the scent.

This is the 3rd time I have ordered this shaving soap. I have been a hard shaving soap and brush shaver for over 35 years. I have gone back to canned shaving foam twice in that timeframe but never lasted more than a week before coming back to my cake soap and brush. NOTHING lubricates my beard and gives me a closer shave, even with a blade that has seen 2 or 3 shaves past it's prime. As long as I can find this product, I will never go anywhere else.

For my morning shave, I dip my brush in hot water and lather up with TOBS's sandalwood soap. As I swirl the brush to build up a good creamy froth, the scent takes me back to a time when I was a young man, an officer in Her Majesty's Government, stationed in India. (Or was it Bangladesh?) I had a house full of servants who would serve me tea and crumpets. Afterwards, I would join the other officers for gin and tonics at the Club, and watch the sun set over the Empire.At least, that's what I like to imagine. The sandalwood scent is strong enough to make you poetical and nostalgic all at once, and it's why I will only use this for my shaves.
