Patriot P20 Dual Purpose Electric Fence Energizer, 2.0 Joule

We have a very stubborn 18mo old Saint Bernard that found he could jump our existing dog wire fence, and then he would constantly jump it after he realized he could. We previously tried the PE2 with it not phasing him at all! So we talked to customer service, verified our setup and switched to this one, P20. What a difference! Our dog yard is only about 300sq ft but when the PE2 didn't work, we had to do something and I'm glad we got this one! Now our dog won't jump and possibly get run over, injured or lost. Within minutes of having this one up and running, our dog tested it and when he got a shock, he hasn't tried again and it's been several weeks now.So if u have a stubborn, big fluffy dog, like a Saint Bernard, the pet version will not be enough, it won't get thru their fur, u will want to upgrade to the P20.

So much to like about this charger, especially the dual power option. I powered it from an 20Ah SLA Battery and a 22W solar panel w/ charge controller. In the summer it would run about 4 days before the battery dropped to about 8V and I would have to bring it inside to charge it back to 13.8.Now that the days are shorter and the sun is lower, My little 22W panel cannot keep up with current demands so I had to dig a trench and run line voltage out to the coop in order to keep my . If you intend to run this fence charger exclusively on solar energy, I would recommend that you get a high quality charge controller and as much panel as you can afford

It has been out in the sun and rain (in a rain forest) operating a fence that goes over rugged terrain and streams for several months now. It powered about a mile of fence with 5 miles of tape and wires and we just added another half-mile. No problems and we test daily. Patriot P20 has reliably saved us $5,000 a month in damage from feral animals. I was concerned about operating cost as this unit replaces a solar unit. We have he highest electric costs in the US and I see no significant increase of any kind with this unit. Exceeded all expectations.

First time electric fence owners. Watched my boyfriend fly 5 feet. Touched a bucket i was holding to the wires coming out of the charger while trying to handle a goat. It sent a jolt up my arm so strong i half expected to see lightning bolt marks in my armpit. Im not a fence charger whiz but I'd say it works pretty darn well. I would advise you to be wiser than myself and pay attention to where you are swinging metal objects.

I bought this for a 5000sqft corral and the zap made the bull Sit Down! Probably could run five wire around ten acres with this. If you are an athiest touching this may change your perspective. Runs great on DC and ac.

This is an excellent electric fence energizer. Successfully warded off numerous bear attacks in an area with quite a bit of bears. The Joul output is quite low, but even so it's still strong enough to ward off bears. I eventually upgraded to the Patriot 6 joule energizer.

works right out of the box, so far has kept the bears at bay. The p10's I have have worked for 3 years so far with no hiccups, so I fully expect the p20 to work just fine. The price couldn't be beat any where, it cost less than the other p10's I had bought. I puts out 2 joules so should be just fine.
