I installed this 1461-AL LCN door closer for a customer yesterday(professional locksmith-35 years experience) and everything went well,easy install,readable instructions and or templates and easy adjustments.The job was a doctors interior lobby/office door that required a locked door after every opening(electric strike and vestibule lever lock already installed),the patients get buzzed in,not a bad area just a security measure.I also replaced the hinges with ball bearing commercial rated usage,a good idea with a door closer situation,now it closes like a refrigerator door,no slamming with spring hinges(it drives the staff crazy after a while)!The doctor liked the better quality of LCN and the slim line look with the cover.I install many closers a year and most are cheaper quality and install price,but I try to upsell to these when possible,less problems and failures,better preformance.The LCN 4040 series I install on exterior exit/entry doors,a extra heavy duty closer with PA mount(parallel arm).They are available in a variety of arms,hold open,fusable link fire rated,cush stop for a easier stop limiter,drop down plates for narrow styles,etc. To be honest I bought this at a local builder supply as I couldn't wait for shipping,but Amazon's price was better and 2 day shipping good when possible,but being a businessman have to give the customer what they want,solve the problem today!!!When it comes to hardware there are a lot of "knock offs" out there for cheaper,most are ok,but I prefer name brand when possible.Hopefully this might help anyone looking for a good product! Read the instructions carefully and allways install on the push side when possible.I repair a lot of botched installation jobs where people don't measure properly and the closers wear out prematurly,or else the seals leak from cold temperatures(Michigan),they all leak eventually,thats the nature of hydralics.Good luck and Happy installing!!
