great water bottle and carrier
I was looking for a water bottle that I did not have to strap to my waist. I have the 8 oz fuelbelt bottles but they are cumbersome to get in and out of the straps. I found this bottle and thought it was an interesting design and the cost was very reasonable. I tell you it is fantastic. The strap is adjustable and the bottle is curved so it fits my hand perfectly. As I run the water is readily available. No more fidgeting with those straps. Even as the fluid level is depleted the sloshing is minimal. Must have something to do with the curve of the bottle maybe?? The strap also has a small zipper on the front that opens to a pouch to hold two cards (ID and Visa) and a key (house or car). The perfect bottle with the perfect accessory. Just what I was looking for. I understand that Amphipod makes a smaller version of this one. I guess that would be good for shorter runs or folks that can't hold a 20 oz bottle. Enjoy the hydration system, I sure am.

A non-annoying alternative to water belts
So, I wanted an alternative to the water belt that I had been using. I hate water belts. They bounce, twist around, restrict my movement and are annoying overall. I went with the 12oz bottle instead of the larger 20oz variety. It doesn't slip out of my hand. It has a zippered pouch to carry a credit card or ID, which comes in handy when purchasing your post run beers. it's not heavy, it's easy to refill quickly, the spout closes shut (no drip or spillage) and it's easy to drink from. And it doesn't interfere with my arm swing during my runs.So far, I have used it on runs as long as 10 miles, with zero problems.I would definitely recommend this item.

Okay product overall.
The product is as I thought it would be. Well designed and high quality. It fits okay on my hand. I do have a bit of trouble with it leaking if the top isn't very tightly turned in, which may be because it is a large opening (about 1.5" in diameter). I think of simple plastic bottles that tighten very securely with very little pressure, so I wonder why this design would leak so easily unless I put a lot of pressure on it.

Wasn't sure at first... Now I love it.
When I first got it, I thought I was purchasing the smaller bottle by Amphipod (poor reading on my part, nothing to do with the seller). I decided to try it out, as it was the middle of summer, and I figured I could always buy the smaller one for runs that wouldn't be as long.It took a second to get used to, but now that I've been using it for a couple of months, I absolutely love it. It takes zero effort to carry, and it is ridiculously easy to drink out of while running. That may sound silly, but I have had issues with previous water bottles, that I have to stop running just to figure out how to open it and drink out of them without pouring it all over me. This is so easy to open, and close, that it feels like second nature. I haven't gone on a run since purchasing this without bringing it along. When I first ordered it, I didn't think I would ever use the zip pouch. I don't use it very often, but when I have something that I need to keep (like if my rings are driving me bonkers), I hate using the tiny pockets that come in my running shorts, and this is a great perk!As far as keeping the water cool, I've found it's completely dependent on how hot it is outside - as with most water bottles. If it's 90+ and extra humid, the ice melts almost immediately (and honestly, when it's that hot, I don't mind the condensation dripping on me), but when it's cooler out, it stays cool for most of my run.I would definitely recommend this product, and plan on purchasing more!

I want to love it, but can't
The bottle is very comfortable to hold and Amphipod must have updated the cap because mine worked perfectly from day one. No problem opening or closing the tip like others have reported. The insulation is good and helps keep the bottle from slipping in my hand while running, helps keep my hand from getting cold, and helps keep the drink a LITTLE but cooler, but not dramatically cooler. I wish the zipper compartment was a tad bigger, but its big enough to slip a gel or two into and/or a couple of keys even if it won't hold a smart phone or full sized ipod.Sounds like a decent water bottle, right? Well there are two issues I have with it:1) The smell. The bottle had a horrible "plastic" smell when it arrived - I washed it with 4 or 5 different kinds of soaps/cleaners and the smell just wouldn't go away. After all the cleaning, it didn't seem to taint the taste of my Gatorade, but I can't help but think it is outgassing something into my drink. Its been 2 months later and the smell has greatly diminished, but its still there. I always store the bottle clean and with the cap off so it can air out. So if you've got a race this weekend - this isn't your bottle.2) The bottom bottle strap is difficult to get on, and when the bottle gets wet, it slips off very easily. The last 3 times I've done long runs (over an hour) I've had the strap pop off the bottom when switching hands. Trying to fix the strap while sitting in your kitchen before a run is trivial. Trying to fix it while not tripping over tree roots 80 minutes into your run is completely different.I've paid for this bottle and the smell is slowly going away, so I'll continue to use it. But I wouldn't buy a second one for my wife to use.

Mold will grow in the top
The product works fine, the issue comes in cleaning it. The top is impossible to clean because it doesn’t come apart. Black mold is already growing between the part of the tip that sides up and down and I can’t get it out. I even went so far as to bend/break a toothpick to get it in there and it didn’t work. It gets thoroughly rinsed after every use and even with a scrub brush you can’t get to these areas to get the mold out. Black mold growing on water bottles is not new in the running world, it’s why things are made to be completely taken apart and dried. I can’t believe I fell for this, but I figured it was a good bottle for the price, not rotomolded nonsense. Now I’m searching for a cap that’s not the lowest quality so I don’t have to throw the rest of the thing away.
