Q: how does it hook up? Can this be attacted to the tig cable hose that I have?

It should just thread right on to the existing cable, so long as it isn't a water cooled tig torch you currently have. Pull the handle off your existing tig torch to make sure it looks the same as this picture, and you should be fine.

Q: Can I use this instead of my 17v head on the same set up?

No, the power/gas hose is different from 26 torch. If you have a 17 torch, you have to use a 17 series head. Thanks,
