Thunderworks Games TWK2002 Roll Player: Monsters & Minions Expansion, Mixed Colours

If you enjoyed roll player, then this gives you more of that great game. The introduction of the minions and monsters gives a little something else to think about. Love it.

A great game ,easy to pick up but not an easy game. Expansions give it an ongoing interest. The 1 hour play time and small play area required is also a plus.

A very good expansion, the 5th player doesn't add greatly to the time and the new mechanics are a welcome addition, giving more paths to gaining points and also a bit of purpose to the character building

Excellent expansion to a brilliant game. Four stars because of the damage caused to the player tableau....by that I mean the separation of the slots get scuffed. I have to use sticky tape to reinforce them. Just wish they were made of a harder material than cardboard !I To keep everything tidy and because I am a solo player, I put everything in the base game box.

Adds a little to the base game, still fun

Photo was of English version, description was in English. A polish version was delivered this is very frustrating because there is no way of knowing that this was not the English version.

Adds a final boss character to defeat and an option to attack monsters (this is good if you don't want to buy anything in the market). My 15 year old nephew particularly liked the option of attacking monsters.

Wow! This expansion takes a great game and makes it better without adding too many rules or changing the theme of the game! Monsters & Minions adds lots of new stuff. Including: 1) Components for a 5th player! 2) MORE classes, backgrounds, alignments, market cards and races! 3) Boost Dice that can increase your stats (but don't count for VPs, color placement, etc) by 3-8! 4) Scroll cards that give you instant bonuses, abilities and/or actions! 5) MONSTERS! (see below!) 6) COMBAT DICE! (see below) 7) EXPERIENCE CUBES (see below) 8) Honor/Wound tokens (see below) But the BEST addition to Role Player that Monsters and Minions adds is COMBAT and ADVENTURING! Monsters and Minions adds.....well....MONSTERS to Role Player! Yes, COMBAT (and combat dice!!) comes to Role Player. Combat is quick and simple-roll your combat dice, add them up, add/subtract modifiers, use special powers that apply, then compare to the monster you're fighting. If you win, collect a reward (experience cubes, honor tokens, VPs); if you lose you get a wound. Wounds count as a negative modifier. Combat, called "hunting," is a new option during the market phase. Now, during the Market Phase, instead of buying a card you can 'hunt' monsters and test your character against a host of evil monsters....er.....minions. Fighting the monsters gives you experience cubes (and in some cases endgame VPs). Experience cubes give you even more options in combat, such as re-rolling combat dice, hiring mercenaries (which give you more combat dice), heal wounds and even allow you to take attribute actions!! Even better, the expansion adds a BOSS MONSTER that the entire party must fight after their players are completed their characters! This adds a climatic end to the base game and even a touch of co-op! Again, the boss fight is quick and clean and only lasts a single round. Either the players win (and get LOTS of VPs), or they fail! The only downsides to the expansion that I can see are: A) It will make the game longer, which may or may not be an issue for some players. B) Some players may find the addition of combat will make the game even more lucky and/or swingy. With players coming from last to first based solely on getting lucky in combat instead of efficient strategy. But, for me (and my group) this is an essential purchase! If makes the base game even more interesting with more strategies and choices and knocks it out of the park in terms of theme. If you have the base game, GET THIS NOW!

Great addition to the base game. Adds a bunch of new cards to all the stacks, which adds more replayability. And also adds a new little combat mechanic, which is fun and gives you more options and makes you think about the endgame a bit more. Perfect expansion.
