Crave the Night: A Midnight Breed Novel

Nathan finally finds love
4 stars - It was really goodRaised to be an emotionless killing machine, Nathan is one of the most lethal Breed vampires in the Order. He always executes his missions with precision and a lack of mercy. But his discipline is no match against the beautiful Jordana Gates.I really am loving this series. Nathan may have been a child when he was freed from Dragos control but harsh training he received never left him. He is detached and doesn’t allow anyone close. I loved that he finally opened up and let someone close. Jordana has a life of privilege but she finds herself trapped by expectations. With Nathan she can finally be herself, which is a wonderful, kind, and smart woman. I liked the contrast between these two a lot, yes it's a common one but it really worked for this couple. The new direction this series is taking is fascinating. I am really loving it, and all the new characters that have been introduced. I especially love it since we are finally getting answers about the Atlanteans and how they play a part in this world. I can’t wait to start the next book and see what is going to happen next.Trigger Warnings: references and descriptions of child abuse and torture

Best book in a while. Corine did what she could.
After the idiot decision by Kellan Archer to become a renegade, in the Edge of Dawn, (how about a self-fulfilling prophecy) and the novella, Marked by Midnight, that left me with too many questions on the future of their relationship, I appreciated a solid action-intrigue-romance story. The story brings up questions and concerns on how a relationship could develop, survive and be mutually satisfying for Nathan and Jordana. This along with the ongoing fight for peace between the Breed and the Humans make an interesting story. Add to this the struggle between the Breed and the Atlanteans, and the Breed and Opus Nostrum and you’ve got a winner.Nathan: He is a warrior and yes, he is still psychologically damaged. Why? He has been holding out on his emotions. I guess that’s not surprising with his background. He has not let people know his deep/dark feelings. We wonder why Corinne did not heal him with her love. The book lets us know that she was afraid to push any harder. I think we all know that you can push too hard and push someone away. She let him know that she was there and she loved him.Jordana: She is a privileged Dark Haven Breed Mate. She is quiet, cultured and has a rich Breed Daddy. You think there is no way they can be happy together and at first it looks this way. Nathan is into everything has to be his way. Even the sex. Jordana goes along with what he wants, but you wonder how long will this one sided relationship last? I love the way the story and Jordana changes. She gains her strength and Nathan’s love and respect. We learn more information on the Atlanteans. We find out a couple of reasons why the queen is angry and vicious. We learn that some of the Atlanteans are kind and loving.

As always--great world building and appealing characters
Adult book (and series) due to violence, sex, and language. I'm a fan of this series from the beginning. I did have my doubts that the new generation of warriors could compete with the old, but the Author manages to keep the series fresh. I especially like the Atlanteans as the newer villains. The Hero of this book, Nathan, had good character development. The Heroine not so much, but I liked that she turned up with a surprising (even to herself) secret. The sex scenes are always good. The action scenes are vivid and engaging. The books should be read in their proper order. If you're new to the series, I'd suggest that you start with Book 1 so that you become familiar with the recurring characters.

The wait for Nathan was well worth it
I have been a HUGE fan of this series since right after it came out, I have almost all of the books in paperback as well as kindle version and this is a series that I pick up again and again to read. I faithfully if not very impatiently wait every year to read the next in this series and could not wait to finally have Nathan's book. Since he has first been introduced into this series I have been excited about the prospect of his story and I can easily say the wait was all worth it.When Jordana kisses Nathan that was nothing like her but neither can forget the kiss. Jordana has had her life planned out and she knows whats expected of her but Nathan is always in the back(and most of the time front) of her mind. When Nathan and she are around each together the chemistry is even noticeable to others. So when Nathan and Jordana find themselves alone even the thought of her boyfriend who she is supposed to blood mate can stop them. The more time they spend together the harder both Jordana and Nathean find it to deny the feelings they have for one another, and Jordana begins to make changes to her life so that she can finally start to live it the way she wants. But Nathan has known all along that she deserves more and better than him. When a man who the Breed is looking for is killed right after he comes to see Jordana, Nathan and the order know that they have to get to the truth, and Nathan has no intentions of letting others protect Jordana. Soon secrets are revealed that will put Jordana in danger and the relationship between Nathan and Jordana may just be impossible.Lara Adrian has done what most authors can only dream of doing with such a long running series. Most authors either loose the magic they created with the first few books or loose direction and the story line but Lara Adrian is like the little engine that could, the girl just keeps getting better and better the more she writes this series, The charters keep getting more and more interesting and Mrs. Adrian always finds a way to keep us updated on the original characters we grew to love years ago. When Mrs. Adrian turned this series in a new direction she did exactly what this series need to stay fresh and alive but also stay true to it's roots.I loved this book from beginning to end, Nathan was a great hero and everything I have been waiting for, I wish the book had delved a little more into his past but I was so happy getting to know Nathan as a hero. He was possessive of Jordana from the start even if he thought they would never be together. Jordana was a great heroine and the twists in this book are just another reason Lara Adrian is still a great author. I loved the story line in this book so much, when we think we have it all more of the story is revealed that just suck's us more into the world of the Breed.I can't wait for more books in this series, we get glimpses into more characters lives so that we have a nice set up into new stories. This is one of the few paranormal romance stories that I love just as much as when I started it. The Breed series has always and always will be one of those series that you wait for every year because you just can't not read it, and when the prices raised I still gladly pre-order and bought them all because they are just that good. I can't recommend this book enough to Lara Adrian fans, PR fans, and reads who just want a good book that while you are reading you can tell the author took care with the old and the new characters as well as the magical world she created.*Thank you edelweiss and Delacorte Press/Random House LLC for a ARC copy of this book for my review(less)

Loved it. Nathan is Ace
I am so glad the Midnight Breed didn't stop with the demise of Dragos but carried on with the next generation.I really enjoyed reading about Kellan and Mira in the first of the new generation books and Crave the Night is just as enjoyable. Nathan who is one of Dragos experiment was rescued by his mother but the scars left from what he endured in the labs are very marked. He never shows emotions and everything he does is calculated with the precision of the killer he was trained to be, that is until he meets Jordana.Jordana too is adopted by a wealthy Dark Haven Breed Male who treats her like his own daughter but nothing is as it seems. This novel is full of secrets and surprises, which are quite unexpected when uncovered as are all the twists and turns. This is another page turner keeping me on my toes as the story unfolds. I felt happy one minute, sad the next and enjoyed the humour not to forget the romance. There isn't anything about this book that I didn't like and I look forward to the next one in the series.I found this book captivating as I am sure all Breed fans would.

Great series, love the 'world' that Lara Adrian has created for her characters to live in...................
I have always enjoyed this series and long may it continue, when i think back to the first few books, the breed world as it was then and how it has developed since, i am always amazed by the progression of all of the characters, the order and the whole world they live in. Lara Adrian has created a well rounded fantasy world containing wonderful characters full of heroes and villains that we all love to read about, enjoy and catch up with every time a new installment is released. I love that as well as introducing a new breed pairing which usually endure a rocky road to eventual happiness, we get to catch up with characters from previous books and see what has happened to them since the last book. All of the characters both past and present are integral to the smooth unfolding of the stories and to the development of this fantasy world as a whole, great stuff and i would recommend them to anyone who is a fan of this genre.........................

Midnight Breed book 12
I am such a huge fan of Lara Adrian and the Midnight Breed series, it was one of the first paranormal romance series I discovered and in my opinion it's still one of the best. Book 10 (Darker After Midnight) was a massive game changer and I have to say I'm loving the new direction that the series has taken since then. I'm enjoying getting to know the new younger generation but I'm happy that we still get to see regular glimpses of the original couples. I'm also glad that we now have an explanation about where the Breedmates come from and what makes them so different to other humans. There is so much more that we have yet to uncover though and I'm glad that the series doesn't seem anywhere close to coming to an end.Fans of the series will already be familiar with Nathan, he is Corrine's son and he was raised in one of Dragos's labs to be an assassin. Although Corrine and Hunter rescued him when he was 13 and he has been raised by them and the Order ever since Nathan is still mentally scarred by the torture inflicted upon him as a child. He was conditioned to show no emotion and to always ruthlessly follow orders and that is something he has never had trouble doing now that he is a fully fledged member of the Order who is in charge of his own squadron. Nathan is a Gen One Breed male which makes him incredibly powerful physically but he also has a strong will and determination to protect his brothers in the Order and to fight alongside them to protect the rest of his race. When he finds himself attracted to Jordana he is completely thrown off balance, he is so used to being able to push his feelings to one side but he can't seem to do that when it comes to her. Jordana is all he can think about and it's causing him to make mistakes in his job, something he can't forgive himself for.Jordana had a privileged upbringing, she was raised in the Darkhavens by her adopted father and she has always been spoilt and cosseted by him. She isn't a weak willed female though, she has fought hard to gain her independence and wants to be allowed to make her own choices. She feels stifled by the expectations her father has for her, he wants to see her settled and mated but the man he is encouraging to pursue her isn't someone that she has feelings for and the last thing Jordana wants is to be stuck with a permanent bond to someone that she doesn't love. Nathan is everything she has always been told that she shouldn't want in a man, he isn't a sophisticated, wealthy male who is part of the Darkhaven elite, instead he is a dark, dangerous and brooding warrior. But Nathan gets her blood boiling like no other and she finds it impossible to resist temptation.I really liked Nathan and Jordana as a couple, in a lot of ways they are opposites but they bring out the best in each other and I enjoyed seeing them work out their differences. I loved how dominant Nathan is, in fact I think he might just be the most dominant Breed male we've met so far which is saying something really because this series is full of hot alpha heroes! Nathan's upbringing has left him always needing to be in control and that shines through in every aspect of his character, especially when it comes to his sex life. Jordana does bring out a softer side to him but even with her he finds it difficult to let go of the reigns. Their romance has some incredibly sweet moments but it is also full of heat and sexual tension. You won't be disappointed when they give in to their desire!I don't want to say too much about the rest of the plot but there are some very interesting developments after the thwarted attack by the Opus Nostrum terrorist group in the last book. We find out a little more about the Atlanteans and it definitely has me curious to see what will happen next. I enjoyed spending more time with the rest of the younger generation, I was slightly disappointed that we didn't see more Mira and Kellan but I already love Carys chase and I'm really hoping we don't have to wait too long for her story. I'm also hoping that Zael might be a character we get to see more of as the series continues, I have a feeling he could be quite important in the upcoming battle with their new enemies. If you're a fan of the series I'm sure you'll love Crave the Night, the only disappointment is that I've not got to sit around waiting for the next book to be published!

Nathan
Took me a while to get interested in this one , having previously loved the storylines of the series , I never thought I'd ever say this but the sex gets in the way of the story , the story is so good yet is interrupted and derailed by extensive sex scenes , I'm no prude , most definitely not , but it seems in the last 2books the story line was written around the sex scenes
