But I would give the BOOK a 1 STAR because there are only a few leis in here AND they are all NOT THAT GREAT and old fashion. Most of the leis you can find on YouTube to create!

I purchased both the 1st and 2nd books and it’s not for beginners. The instructions are not easy to follow. To the authors... provide more step by step instructions and photos.

Nice book

I wanted to make money leis for my friends for birthdays, so I bought this book to find a style of lei to make. There are many beautiful leis in the book and I'm anxious to make many of them to give as gifts (even without the money). When I went looking for the materials, though (most of the leis I like are made with acetate ribbon), it was difficult to find an acetate ribbon dealer. When I could find the ribbon, I couldn't find the particular manufacturer in order to get the correct colors. Finally, I found a business that listed the ribbon and I ordered most of what I needed. However, it's been 7 weeks and I haven't received the ribbon (all backordered) so I can start any of these leis. Although the instructions listed make sense on reading, I'm unable to determine if they will still make sense when I actually start the leis. I would have like to see more pictures detailing the steps, but again, I'm not sure if the instructions are easy enough to follow that having the pictures wouldn't add any more insight. I'll update this review when I've had a chance to actually use the book.

Ribbon leis are popular gifts in Hawaii. I wanted to make one for my grand daughter as she graduated from high school. Since I live in rural Canada, this was not an easy project, due to the difficulty of finding the correct supplies. Once I mastered the cutting, folding, stitching, and stringing techniques needed, I did produce two lovely leis. The instructions are clear; one's patience level is very critical, however. This is not an afternoon project for a beginner; you will need a couple of days for your first one !

リボンレイの本を探しにさがし、やっと見っけました。Making Ribbon Leis2 と合わせて二冊購入・・・早速、レイを作りはじめました。中身の英語も大変わかりやすく、写真も多く、見ているだけでも「楽しい」気持ちにさせてくれます。ハワイアンの曲を聞きながら、過ぎ去る夏の思い出を、ひと針ひと針 優しく、思いを込めて・・・。素敵な作品を沢山、作れる一冊だと思います。この本を参考にオリジナル・クリスマス・レイにも挑戦したいと考えています。

日本のリボンレイの本では、見つける事ができなかった技法などが、わかりやすく書いてあったので助かりました。説明の英語は、単語の意味がわかれば理解できる文章でわかりやすかったです。（色の名前とかを最初に辞書で引いてしまえば大丈夫ですよ）この本が、完成品の写真がはっきりとしていないので、かえってオリジナルが作りやすくなりました^m^

この本の「1」を一緒に購入しました。比べると結構レベルアップした内容ですが、そんなに難しくない英語を使って説明されているので大丈夫だとおもいます。写真も多くでていますので安心です。
