Enjoying reading to my kids
My 6-year-old son got one of these books out of the school library, and I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate or even a good read. I skimmed through it and thought it might be okay, and my son and 9 -year-old daughter kept hounding me to read it to them. So I bought the first book so we could start at the beginning. It was fantastic! They love this book and the ones we've read since. I was very pleased that it is generally fine for both my kids, considering my son might be a little young for it. I do skip a few sentences or descriptions here and there about things I know they are afraid of (I didn't read the full description of a large snake, for example), but it is well-written, fun and interesting to both of my kids. And I'm enjoying it as much as them!

SPIRIT ANIMALS!
Are you stirring this book a few days ago now that I finished with the book I am amazed I will not reveal any of the characters except my favorite one I do not want to ruin the book. Yet again this author is amazes me. I am going onto the next book hunted. My favorite character in this book(wild born) is Conor he shows you can be a young shepherd boy with what he thinks of no talent can change the world he just needs some friends. I have a five star in on this book for a reason. This is a very good book because this author is very good. This is the end of my opinion about this book. You will see my next opinion on my next book that I read. I hope that the next spirit animal book will be as good as this one.

This book is for kids... Mine is over 10 and thinks it is pretty great.
My child is reading this one at the moment and requested all of them. He sits up at night retelling the story in his own words and I love how he has taken a liking to the characters, We are also noticing that the authors change for each book in the series and I cant wait to see if he gravitates toward any one writer in particular. I will let everyone else give spoilers, and talk aabout the book, but I like to leave my book reviews and tv/movie reviews short and to the point. This book is for kids... Mine is over 10 and thinks it is pretty great. There are 7 in the series and we have ordered up to book 5... so 2 more to go and he will have the whole hardback set .

As a parent of a 9 year old boy...
Many people LOVE this book but I do not think my son, or most 4th graders could read it on their own and really comprehend it. For that reason he and I read it together. I love that the author packs a lot of vocabulary in to the book. Sometimes it can frustrate a young reader because it slows them down from the plot. But together we forged ahead. By page 80 the book has enough momentum that reading becomes pleasurable. I applaud the author for keeping the art of language alive. My son begged for another wimpy kid book. Yes they are easy and fun to read but after reading this book, I realized the limits of my son's vocabulary. Exposure is the only way around this.
