Many newer HD camcorders dont come with lens threads to attach wide-angle lenses. A clip-on lens is the only solution. This lens works as advertised, but it has drawbacks.PROS: Works as it should; clear with no noticeable distortion on the edges. The springs are strong and keep it in place pretty well.CONS: The handles stick out on the sides which makes it easy to knock off on a small camcorder. You cannot zoom in very far or things get blurry (not sure why, as the screw-on lens on my old Sony didnt to that). The clips that hold it in place, as well as parts of the round lens, are visible on the video (it doesnt detract from the video quality, but it looks like you are holding something over the camera).Overall, it was a good solution for me, as I wanted to shoot video of family functions in a room without having to stand in the corner. If you want high-quality output look elsewhere (or get a camcorder with threads); if you just want a way to film the kids on Christmas morning, this is perfect.
