This is an extremely sturdy unit. With the various shelves in place and if placed on the flat surface, there should be no problem with a TV. Perhaps the manufacturer could provide a poundage estimate.

Back is finished, so front is same as back. Not sure of weight rating. Realize it is painted particle board, so there is inherent weakness in that type of wood. I believe you would see it begin to sag if the weight was too much.

I think it is particle board covered in some type of laminate material.

yes but you would have to fabricate mounts. best way would be to fabricate something for bottom shelf to sit on to take pressure off of joints. would look very nice sidewides and length wise.
