Cisco Call Manager (CUCM) Guide: How to Install, Configure, and Maintain the Cisco IP Telephony System

This ebook is straight to the point. It’s not full of junk like the cisco press books that waste time. I’ve always felt the cisco press books are written in a format that forces the reader to skim through the BS having to compress the material. I prefer these types of formats where the material is written from someone who actually works on these types of networks and not from guy that is paid to write on a chalk board that never touches real networks. Good stuff thnx

This book is solid for an old school tech trying to learn Cisco CM. I have a great team, but don't like to bother them too much, this book allows me to answer the simple questions about the phone system. Now that I have some practical experience I'm going to reread this book, the chapters I found most helpful were towards the end with the BULK admin, CDR and RTMT. Good stuff!

With so many CUCM books out there I was hesitant about buying this one but I'm very pleased with it. It doesn't go into extreme detail but enough to get a system installed up and running, add users, create dial plan etc. I've never touched a CUCM system but would feel extremely comfortable using this as a guide. One of the biggest pluses for me is that it covers a very recent release of CUCM. The only downside in this is that I found a few spelling and grammatical errors throughout the book. If you can get past that, I would strongly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn about CUCM.

I inherited managing the phone system when a colleague left. I knew some terms and had even taken the Cisco course but had no actual experience on CUCM. Now I have experience and can’t apply the earlier training. This helped me to connect the dots! Great book for a 10,000 foot view and some basic configuration options. Quick read, informative, would recommend for this needing a quick refresher or brief familiarization. Glad I found it!

In an industry that has moved from legacy pots to ISDN to now VoIP, this book really helped me. More references should be like this... to the point and easy to understand. I like that he wrote this from his real world experience. I'm MAC tech trying to cross the bridge to VoIP Engineer. This book help me set up my home lab and navigate the essential parts of the CUCM. Also, I started using this knowledge at work. Many thanks to the writer. I hope he continues to write more about this subject matter.

This is a great book for beginners or a quick reference on how to configure the most common features in Call Manager. I wish this has been around when I first got into this field. Great job!!

Manuale ottimo come riferimento e per iniziare a lavorare sul Call Manager. Non aspettatevi la completezza della manualistica Cisco, ma serve bene il suo scopo.

LE doy 3 estrellas porque el contenido del libro esta bastante bien, quizas algo mas se echa en falta pero pudiera ser para otro próximo libro, no le doy mas estrellas por dos razones, una la calidad de la impresión y el idioma que solo esta en ingles, es una lastima no este traducido.La edición es de pena. Las pastas, la cubierta, son malas malas, se enroscan ya desde el primer día y da un aspecto al libro de caca, nunca lo había visto así en un libro desde hacía años que compre uno sobre programación en spectrum. La impresión del interior parece hecha con la impresora en ahorro de energía, yo no veo muy bien pero este libro me cuesta muchísimo leerlo, la tinta esta muy muy floja.El contenido viene ayudado de bastantes capturas que se agradecen y llegaría a las 4 estrellas si no fuera como cito por la mala calidad de su material, hasta la tinta de la portada parece hecha a impresora láser en ahorro de energía nada de imprenta. Por supuesto el contenido tiene ausencia total de color incluidos los recuadros de "caution" digamos los avisos de importante, pero bueno esto podría pasar, pero la calidad ... una pena ya que sería un libro decente.Su contenido es muy actualizado y te deja con ganas de más contenido. En definitiva, lo volvería a comprar por su contenido pero no por su edición.También comentar que aunque me venia el paquete postal cerrado el precinto, el estuche de cartón en el que viene venía abierto por un lateral y el personal de correos había puesto una goma alrededor para sujetar el libro y no perderlo. Lamentable.
