Upgraded Ender 3 v2 Ender 3 CR-10 All Metal Extruder Aluminum MK8 Bowden Extruder 40 Teeth Drive Gear for Creality Ender 3 Pro/Ender 5/ CR-10 Series 3D Printer

Like a lot of others, my Voxelab Aquila's stock plastic extruder arm cracked not long after I got my printer. I printed a replacement arm, and that actually got me by for about 4 months, but that arm started to wear out and was causing unreliable extrusion too. I didn't really feel like I needed to upgrade to a dual gear, or even a direct drive set up for my PLA and PETG printing, so I started looking into the aluminum stock replacements. I've heard these can have issues of their own; the spring can be too stiff, bad hardware, no instructions, and the pivot spacer can be too short which keeps the arm from moving. I'm happy to report, this kit has none of those problems. The stock spring is working fine, parts are all well made and fit great, no problems with the hardware and fittings. Instructions consist of an exploded view drawing with the parts labeled, which was enough for me. If you really run into trouble, there are a bunch of videos out there, or just look at your stock extruder, it goes together the same way. I'd suggest assembling the roller to the arm first, then putting everything else together with the spring being last. So all in all, this is a great kit. I'm surprised a kit of machined and anodized parts like this can be sold for such a low price to be honest. I feel like maybe aside from the brass extruder gear, the rest of these parts should last the life of the printer. If you are shopping for one of these, and seeing about 30 different versions that look the same, just get this one and be done with it.

Fixed my feeding issues on Ender 3 v2, I could tell I had issues when prints failed and had "dust" up around this extruder. Thought it was a clogged nozzle but kept happening after checking/cleaning nozzle. Finally replaced old one with this and next print was perfect!

My Creality CR6-SE got a clog and after changing the nozzle, it was performing very badly with under extrusion (thin filament and spongy, weak, and fragile. prints). I suspected the cheap plastic extruder was worn out, so I bought this relatively inexpensive metal extruder (silver, single drive). It was easy and low risk to install. After installing and putting on a new 0.4mm nozzle, my printer was back to printing very well. Very happy with the purchase, ease of install, and results. I'd highly recommend this upgrade if you have an older or plastic extruder. I can confirm this works perfectly with the CR6-SE.

Helped get rid of the slipping or grinding I would have, less mess next to the extruder. The Capricorn tubing is great, already had some on hand but I know that is amazing and definitely recommend if you have stringing or plan to print at higher temps. One issue I have which is not for everyone, but I installed this on a cr-10 v1 and was unable to use the extruder dampener, or the knob I had on the extruder to push filament through. Not a turn off for me but still with the gears sat a little lower so I could use my knob. Another thing I wished was on here( although it’s not on the original or the metal one by creality) is that the spot where the gears sit was smaller so that the Filament would not bend so much as it’s harder to get the filament through the second hole, especially when your filament breaks or runs out in the middle of the print. Overall I would still recommend as the issuers I listed are minimal and really not a problem for everyone and not even fixed on other extruders.

I was looking for some knob handles for my poi, and unsure of the size, shape and weight, and realized it would $15 to buy most pairs I was looking at. They were all 3d printed TPU and I normally just do things myself but Ive got a fairly stock Ender 3 (other than the bullseye cooler) and been told it couldn't do TPU because of the Bowden. Well instead of spending $30 on a couple pairs of handles I decided I'd spend the same on this and a roll of TPU and figure it out anyway. Status quo be damned! I got the TPU first and tried to print it, but got nowhere. There was a gap between the extruder gear and the intake of the Bowden tube and the filament would just push out there and never actually be forced into the hot end. I couldn't even print a purge line. I got this today and installed it. Its pretty simple and similar the original so taking that one out should tell you how to put this in. I just printed my first TPU item and it came out flawless (although at 20mm/s but I decided to start conservative) Now that that works I plan on printing so many other things like endcaps for staffs, and grommets/seals and the like. I'd like to build a beetleweight combat robot and a lot of the armour is TPU. I feel like this opened up a whole new avenue for printing nonrigid items, and has expanded the life of my Ender for much longer as that was a reason i had though about updating. 6 years strong and its been a beast!

After about 6 months of moderate use, our Ender 3 Pro had started to exhibit under-extrusion issues. At first, lines absent of material were showing up in the prints. Next, PETG was failing to pull off the spool. Finally, PLA wouldn't even pull without heavy manual assistance. So, I ordered this kit and set to work on it the evening it arrived. The instructions were straightforward. The parts list was not in English, but the exploded diagram was very nice. My only trouble was with removing the extruder gear from the motor shaft--it took Vise Grips, a C-clamp, a hammer, a 10d nail, and a lot of hope to get the press fit gear off. Everything else was fairly straightforward. After about an hour's work, I was printing with PLA without any issues. I'm testing PETG over the course of the day, but I expect its results to be similarly good.

Works perfectly and now I can print using TFU.

I like how the Ender printers are so upgradeable and you can find virtually any upgrade or accessory for them, but this is one of those things that really Creality should have just put on their printers in the first place, and not require you to spend extra money on. Seriously, the extruder feed is a very important part of the printer, and the plastic feed that comes with the printer is barely sufficient and will not last long. This extruder is a marked improvement over the plastic extruder, certainly more solid and the feed path a little easier to push the filament through. It still won't overcome a fussy or tangled filament spool, but it will get you past at least some tough spots in the spools that the plastic extruder would not. And a metal part will perform largely the same over a variety of temperatures, while the plastic extruder will behave differently if you put your printer in a noise cage, simply because it will trap more of the heat from the printer and raise temperatures 15-20 degrees inside. Again, the metal extruder should be standard equipment, not an upgrade here.

Gekauft für mein CR-10 V2. Passt auch aber ich habe viele Dinge nicht beachtet/erwartet. Zum Beispiel passt der Filament-Sensor nun nicht mehr, man müsste ihn erhöht anbringen, da der Filament-Zulauf nun deutlich höher ist als mit dem original Extruder (siehe Fotos). Auf den Filament-Sensor kann ich zum Glück erst mal verzichten. Montage war trotz fehlender Anleitung einfach. Der Aufbau und die Schrauben sind exakt wie beim original Extruder. Nachdem ersten Druck habe ich bemerkt, dass ich vergessen habe den E-Stepper anzupassen. Also damit der neue Extruder auch exakt so viel Filament nach schiebt wie benötigt wird. Auch hier wäre eine Anleitung die erwähnt wie das geht nützlich gewesen, aber zum Glück findet man gute Tutorials online. Ich habe den E-Stepper also von 93 mm auf ca.139 mm erhöht wodurch ich ungefähr den gleichen Durchfluss wie vorher erhalte. Die richtige Einstellung zu finden ist allerdings schwierig. Hatte erst under extrusion und dann over extrusion. Ergebnis des Upgrades: Ich habe jetzt bei deutlichen niedrigeren Temperaturen am Hot-End immer noch einen konstanten flow des Filaments. Ich erhoffe mir auch weniger Verstopfungen in Zukunft. Spürbare Verbesserung im Druck-Ergebnis ist allerdings nicht zu sehen. Fazit: Man muss ein bisschen fine tuning betreiben um die richtigen Einstellungen am Drucker zu finden. Außerdem muss man wissen wie es geht, da es keine Anleitung gibt. Insgesamt finde ich das Gesamtpaket aber gut. Sind alles Originalteile von Creality und passen. Es wäre schön gewesen vorher zu wissen, dass man dadurch den Filament-Sensor unbrauchbar macht.
