Really cool, versatile and well designed
I bought this so our small dogs would be blocked from going into the larger part of the yard during storms. Because it’s a mid open net material it should withstand some wind. I installed it on our deck and it was easy to do. Between this and a temporary gate on ground level, they will only be able to access about 1/4 of the yard (on nice days, they can play outside in the entire yard). Depending on where you’re installing it, you might have to use different closure hardware (all of which is included). When you’re installing, make sure that you pay close attention to the latch (the part of the hardware that catches the handles that look like hooks). Depending on how you are closing it, you will need to orient it correctly or the gate will not latch correctly and will be a potential safety hazard as this is a tension gate. One thing that I really like about it is that the rolled up gate can be removed from the wall like a cartridge and stored in the closet until it is needed. That way, there’s no visible gate partially blocking the entryway. It just slides onto the wall hardware and locks into place. When removing, press the release button on the bottom and slide it back off. There’s a lock on top and it’s rated for indoor or outdoor use, so should be okay in all kinds of weather. I live by the coast, so we shall see! I don’t think I’d trust a kid near this…it’s too flimsy in my opinion. Maybe with constant supervision, but it’s pretty lightweight and flexible. It’s held by tension and a plastic lock, but honesty, the weight of a toddler might do some stretching or damage that can’t be undone. The included screw guide was partially helpful, definitely make sure the holes are lined up before you drill holes. I would 100% buy again.

Great product & customer service!
We absolutely love our gate! We have a 5yo and 1yo twins and this keeps everyone safe and out of the kitchen downstairs. The 5yo can open and close it correctly without trouble and the twins (while push it’s limits) have not pulled it down or been able to escape. When we first installed the gate, a rivet came out of the bottom handle (see picture). This rivet helps hold the fabric in and I was concerned it would cause the gate to weaken or come apart. I contacted customer service and they were phenomenal! They responded quickly and ended up sending us a whole new gate. We have since put in the new gate and everything works beautifully! Pros: The gate is easy to open and close and the lock feature is easy to engage. The gate snaps into the wall mounts so we could put the second set of mounts in another location and easily move the gate. The packaging came with spacers to help attach it to the wall and baseboards. The gate feels sturdy and secure. I have no concerns of it falling or being pulled off the wall by my children. Cons: Some people may complain that the fabric sags at the top, but in reality it only does that if you forget to engage the lock feature. I didn’t lock it once and the 1yo pushed the fabric a few inches before I caught him and secured the gate. They can flip the fabric down in the center just barely to peek across but it does not jeopardize the integrity or sturdiness of the gate. Advice: Many reviews I read complained of dogs/children crawling through the bottom. If you don’t put the gate all the way to the floor (meaning attach it to the baseboards) then I can see that happening because there will be a gap and combined with the give of the fabric they will become Houdini! We installed it attached to the baseboards and have had no issues of the kids (or our 15lb dog) trying to get under the gate. Overall, we are very happy with out gate and we would highly recommend it. In addition, I was very thankful for the excellent customer service!

Serves it's purpose
I bought this to use at the top of my staircase for "pet separation", and it serves it's purpose but it is nothing special. We were using a cheap baby gate but I wanted something that we didn't have to take down every time we went up and down the stairs or something to dangerously step over with a basket of laundry. LOL. Pros: It is a much cleaner look than a typical baby gate. It came with a lot of extra screws and extenders which was helpful for me with my baseboards. Once installed it is easy to operate and seems like it is decent quality. I like that it came in different colors to match your interior. The instructions for install were pretty easy to follow and it gave multiple options for how you were setting yours up (inside doorway, outside doorway, with/without baseboards, etc) Cons: You definitely should use a power drill for install, which I do not own. I was able to do it without a power drill, but it was not the easiest thing I have done. The locking mechanism does not work when the gate is extended. When extended and locked, it will still roll back up. As other reviewers have said, only use the provided templates as a guideline, but measure yourself too. They don't line up perfectly. If you do not measure it up perfectly from side to side, there is a bit of a wave in the fabric when it is extended. Overall, this is doing what I need it to do and seems to be working well. It is a little "bulkier" than what I wanted, but with the white on a white wall, it does blend better than the baby gate.

Never buying another baby gate
I have to be honest, when I first got this gate, I hated it with a passion. We had a new born and I had THE most difficult time opening/closing it with one hand. Now I’m chalking that frustration up to sleep deprivation and new parenthood making me lose my common sense. I now recommend this gate to absolutely everyone. My mother’s got two at her place, I’ve got two at mine and I finally just got my brother one. If you’re renting, make sure you landlord is cool with holes/agrees to letting you patch them, because this DOES mount to the wall. Install is a little tricky. The video we watched on our first one felt like it over complicated things, but it’s easiest with two people. I thought about trying to describe the install process here, but I only succeeded in confusing myself - YouTube is your friend here. Install complications aside, I love it. It’s not clunky like the swinging gates are, and it’s sleek/skinny enough to not feel like it’s in the way. I think that’s the thing I love most - it doesn’t feel like we have baby gates up all over the house, but they’re there and they’re reliable/durable. My 18 month old has tried desperately to get through them, but when they’re locked, they don’t move. They’re great at keeping my dogs and kid where I want them. My one piece of advice is that if you’re not mounting into a stud, and you have a monster that will regularly try to get through it, or you have a feeling the gate might get beat on, use drywall anchors.

Solid baby gate with a few small cons
Overall, 5 stars. This is one of the easiest baby gates to use and it's pretty secure. We had a different gate that came unlatched and our baby fell down a few steps (fortunately that staircase is very short and carpeted). We had this gate in another area of the house and so I immediately bought a second to replace the other brand gate. Pros: Secure when locked. Relatively straight forward install. Looks nice (enough). Has not resulted in the baby falling down staircase. Cons: We have two of this same gate, one install was easy, without any issues. The second, because of the way the stairs are and where the baseboard is, was a big undertaking. That's not the fault of the gate per se, but the issue was the latch needs to be facing a certain way and you have to have several spacers to get the right size to match the baseboard. The end result of this is that 1) the latch sticks out into the walkway 3-4 inches, and 2) the screws that came with the gate weren't long enough. I have a bucket full of screws, so no problem for me there, but I did end up punching extra holes in the wall and had to move the whole thing over. The other con is that one person in our house who I won't name *cough mother-in-law cough*, can't work the lock - it's a little too delicate to get into the unlocked position for her, umm, I mean that person... Overall, good product, just a few items that were a bit inconvenient that probably would not even come up for most people.

THE BEST BABY GATES
If you are looking for a baby gate, that doesn’t have to be up all the time and people don’t have to trip over then this one is absolutely amazing!! It is retractable, clean looking and the perfect height! I feel assured that my kids are safe and I don’t have to worry about them climbing over or under or pushing against it! My husband said it was super easy to install! We have two of these and I love all the lengths it comes in! We are going on year 3 owning them!

Serves its purpose, but be aware that you have to lock it and it's hard to install
These gates are functional and serve their purpose--would work well for blocking off a room, which is how I would use them if I had to do this again. A couple of issues: 1) Installation is a little finicky. They provide a paper template so you can mark out where to drill holes and install the hardware--this was definitely helpful in setting up, but you do have to be *very* precise. I bought two gates, which meant 4 templates; for one of them, I was a millimeter or so off and, as a result, the main part of the gate won't "lock" into place. 2) There is a locking feature on here and, if you don't use it, the gate may not serve its intended purpose. None of the other 5 baby gates we use have this feature. For all of the others, once they're closed, they automatically lock and there isn't an extra step to ensure that they are truly locked and childproof. For these gates, after you close the gate, you have to turn a small knob to ensure that it's locked. We learned this the hard way. I installed one of these at the top and bottom of our outdoor deck stairs. My husband didn't realize that closing the gate isn't enough and that it also has to be "locked" and hence closed the gate without locking it. My 18 mo (who we do not typically allow to play with gates) quickly figured out how to open it and fell down the entirety of the deck stairs. A huge safety issue--yes, you can argue that there is a lock feature that should be used; at the same time, none of the other gates I've used require this extra step, and it is clearly a child safety issue. When you're caring for a toddler (or multiple young children), your hands are already full and you already have enough extra things to remember without having to have an extra step for the gate to function as intended. Overall an ok product if you can remember to lock it, but I will not be buying this gate again and may actually end up replacing the ones we have now for this reason.

Great Product and Excellent Customer Service.
This is a great gate, and they have excellent customer service. My dog broke one of the clips almost 2 years later, so I reached out to them to purchase replacement parts. They sent me a set of replacement clips quickly at no charge. Very happy with this product and customer service.
