Love the arrangements
I love the arrangements! Was able to sightread a lot of them, but would definitely have to put in extra work on them to play for anyone else. For now, Iโll just enjoy working on them for my own enjoyment. I would say itโs high intermediate to advanced.

Nice arrangements for intermediate player
I was looking for some classic jazz songs. I am an intermediate player and this are at a good level. A little challenging in places but fun arrangements. Makes you feel like a lounge room pianist.

My favorite!
I LOVE this book. I have very little jazz training, and I'm extremely uncomfortable with improv, so it's so nice to be able to play this kind of style. I was playing at my mom's house, and she kept asking me over and over for a copy for herself (she's particular about this stuff)!I don't know how I would rate the playing level, but I'd say that if you're comfortable playing an average Beethoven or Mozart sonata, you'll probably be good with these. Some songs are easier than that, though. But seriously, if you enjoy playing jazz and are classically-trained, you need this! It's honestly my fav thing to play now. There are several different genres, as well, so I haven't gotten bored, and I tend to get bored easily when I buy new books. I've also picked up the Broadway solos from this series, and it's amazing as well.

Definitely a good book
I have three other books in the series, which I enjoy a lot, but I would give this one the highest rating for several reasons. First, it has a good variety of songs and arrangement styles, ranging from upbeat to mellow, and from slow swing to fast swing. Second, the arrangements sound great for the most part so that I enjoy playing nearly all of the songs in the book regularly. The one exception for me is the Lady is a Tramp. I just don't care for the sound of that arrangement. Third, the songs are very recognizable to others. When I play in public for older crowds, this is definitely the book of choice because it has more songs they easily recognize and can sing along to if they know the words. Unfortunately, the words are not in the books, but that makes sense because the arrangements were not written as strict vocal accompaniments. Like the other books in the series I've bought, there are plenty of rich chords, creative approaches, and fun solo improvisation breaks written in. I imagine there are more sophisticated arrangements out there somewhere, but these are a great start for an upper immediate-level pianist like myself who is learning about these songs and styles for the first time.

Fun!
Not too hard, not too easy. Definitely inventive as it takes awhile to find the melody due to the fun jazz of it all. I'm classically trained so jazz is a new thing for me, the timing is definitely different so my biggest challenge is counting through the bars to get it as he's written it. He also gives chord suggestions to fill out the bass if you want. I'm impressed. A fun book!

Satisfying sound with some work
I've played piano for decades and am probably considered high-intermediate to advanced. I love jazz but can't play by ear. This is a great book. I could sight-read the songs but not at speed or without fumbling around. The chords are not predictable, which is appealing to me. After some work, these will be a pleasure to play and to listen to.

Great transcriptions, lots of great songs.
I really like this series of books. Iโve played classical piano all my life and thought it was time for a change. Enjoying the challenge of jazz rhythms. All the pieces would be accessible to an intermediate player. Iโve bought five of this series, theyโre that good.

Book is annoying bound so stiffly. Nice pieces of music though.
Yet again a piano book made so stiff you cannot open it to play from on the piano easily . I have to give up as it keeps falling off. yes I bent it right back for the piece I like playing. Its a faff and annoying though.I might photocopy it , also they could get more piano lines on a page so you don't have to turn the pages so often. .

Good and challenging
I wanted to learn some jazz piano which is different to classical which is what I am used to. This takes some practising but I did not want anything easy. Enjoying but need more practice to really bring it out and would suit a piano bar.

Beautiful arrangements
Loved this album!Just at the level I can sight read but demanding enough to stretch me as a pianist. All my favourite jazz tunes are included in this album, beautifully arranged

Arranged by Brent Edstrom. Need I say more?
Yet more excellent arrangements by Brent Edstrom. If you are an intermediate or better pianist, just BUY IT. You WILL love it. I have cupboards full of piano music collected over the years, but they are all collecting dust since I discovered this Jazz Piano Solos series...........
