Movo LV4-O Phantom Power Omnidirectional XLR Lavalier Microphone with Metal Lapel Mic Clip and Windscreen - Great External Lav Mic for Filming, Podcast, Livestream, Interviews, or YouTube Recording

Bought this to use with my actual headphones that does not have a built in mic for online gaming , I have it connected to my sound blaster ae9 amp than supports XLR with phantom power and it works great ... I have it clipped onto the bottom of my monitor stand and it is crystal clear and good quality audio recordings especially for my intended use for it. Way better voice capture than a built in mic on a "gaming" headset. Highly recommend this mic if you have the hardware to operate XLR with phantom power and want to use audiophile grade headphones for gaming or any other use case scenario where a built in mic is not available. Great product. Only flaw I can see is the wire is thin coming out of the XLR plug but I don't think that will be an issue since I'm not moving the mic very often. However if you were to wear this and move around quite often I could potentially see a short happening or wire breakage occuring. But overall for the price it's a very good buy and definitely would be again.

This is a review for the omni mic only. It appears to be a rebadged mic from the FR-355k kit made by MXL. This inexpensive Chinese lav mic is much better than I expected! It's very comparable to the Audio Technica AT803, another budget mic I own. At a 1/3 of the price, it's sensitive and sounds clear (the AT is maybe a hair "clearer" but only a trained ear could tell the difference). Adequate construction for a mic at this price: solid metal housing, but the cable seems a bit cheaper (like headphone wires). The cable on my AT is reinforced/nylon braided. It does require strict 48v phantom power (my AT can accept 12v). I did have to "beef up" where the wire exits the plug- some shrink tubing helps to prevent cable fraying. So if you don't mind the cheap packaging, no onboard power option, and a little work to keep the wiring stout- this is a great buy. The sound is what ultimately matters, and it sounds great for its cost.

I avoid lav mics like the plague, and when I need one I try to avoid wireless if possible. So my go-to is an OST 801 with an OST phantom adapter (and a Sennheiser wireless when needed). That's two hundred bucks, not including the wireless, but it sounds excellent when I can't put a hyper on a stand. But I had an outdoor testimonials gig at a festival, knew I'd need my lav, and was told I'd be interviewing couples - so needed a 2nd mic, even though the OST can usually catch two people. Got the little Movo so I could wire up 2 people. It's a pretty remarkable little mic - the OST has a crisper high-end (it's designed for hiding under clothes) but this little cheapie comported itself surprisingly well. It's very difficult to tell in the edit which mic is which. Pretty stunning, really. Two cons - one is (as mentioned in other reviews) there's no strain relief at the XLR end - I assume the cable is just knotted in there. You can tug it in and out. So I squeezed some hot glue in there to hold it firm. This is a potential fail point and some sort of grommet would make sense, not to mention the potential for mechanical noise (though it is on the far end of the cable). The other con - the cable could really be about a foot longer. It's nice to have the XLR connector able to rest on the ground when not using a body pack, and with tall people, you'll have it dangling at calf level, tugging on the mic, so some tape or a clip at the belt is needed - one more step when wiring someone up. Still, at this price, those are minor quibbles - you could almost consider this a "consumable expense", like gels, blackwrap, and tape.

These inexpensive mics are actually quite good. I plug them a Tascam digital recorder and the result is a completely noise free recording. At normal speaking voice I find that the volume is a bit low but instead of turning up the gain during recording I would suggest turning up the level during post production. In any case the sound is very high quality. I am using the omni-directional ones in a studio setting for interviews so there is very little ambient noise. I have not tried them outdoors. If I have two complaints. One is that the voice is a bit lower in frequency than the real speaking voice. This is a tiny problem which I fix in post. The second complaint is about the very thin cables. This just feels like I will certainly break them one day. Gladly they are inexpensive.

Bought this thinking a famous wired Rode mic would do the trick.. this is like buying that plus the converter in one single piece. I mainly will use this to stream, record videos for youtube while sitting and playing piano so not much movement is needed. The cable appears to be now really sturdy and sealed on the end of the xlr connector so no worries there. Will update if anything major happens. Still, in how cheap it is it could be replaced easily should it break.

The Movo LV4-O has an engineering or manufacturing flaw that results in a short in the wire INSIDE the connector. I have had two of these and they have both failed in the same way after only limited use. This is an infuriating failure to confront in a lavalier mic which reasonably is going to be worn and moved about. My first one failed within the return window so I just chalked it up to a bad unit, but the second one has just failed. It seems that the wire that goes from the microphone into the plug or terminator whatever you want to call it is just too thin, and or the jacket is insufficiently durable. So what happens is when the wire enters the terminator, the little sleeve that holds it is just too tight and so any flexing or movement occurs in just one place which creates stress/fatigue in the underlying wire.

Purchased this after reading all the other reviews. I needed a second lapel mic for occasional use & home studio only. Plugged into an XR-18 with EQ, Compression, Gating, & this little gem sounds excellent. For the cost & the amount of indoor use, this was well worth it. Other reviews mentioned about the mic cord to the XLR plug being flimsy, so I attempted to take it apart & tie a knot as others suggested, but the manufacture must have taken heed to those other comments, because I couldn't move the little cord at all, to get it out enough to tie a knot as well. So I opted to leave well enough alone, especially with the amount of usage I plan on.

I am a professional video producer, and needed an inexpensive lav quickly. Amazon delivered this one in about 24 hours, and it worked perfectly on a job the next day. The mic performs well with phantom power, and sounds good. The build quality is a bit flimsy, but plenty good considering the price. I don't expect this to last as long as my favorite, and much more expensive, Sony lavs, but it sure helped me out when I needed it.

It did the trick. I had a video interview to do and it worked absolutely perfectly. For the price its great. And very low noise. Good sound quality.
