I Hate tying my shoes
I Hate tying my shoes. These are perfect replacement for the horrible laces that came with my dress shoes. I cannot slip my dress shoes on really usually without any problem and they're not even very noticeable. They are a little difficult to put on but definitely worth the hassle for the convenience of easy slip on good looking shoes. I ordered another pair for my running shoes and I can't wait to give him a try. thanks for the great products . I understand that the 1-5 star rating is to help both buyers and sellers. Here is a breakdown of how my 1-5 ratings are determined: 5-star rating that means that I truly love that product and it has features that put it above and beyond what would normally be expected, and it is something that โwowedโ me and I am truly glad I purchased it and would purchase it again. Also I recommend it to everyone and anyone! 4-star ratings are items that do exactly as would be expected of the item, is of very good quality, but does not stand out significantly in any way unless I specifically state why it stands out. But all in all, this item is a solid item and is still highly recommended. It just didnโt have the wow factor that my 5 star ratings would have had. 3-star ratings are given on items because my feeling about the product is neutral. I do not consider it a negative, but it just did not wow me, or there is nothing of great significance. 1 or 2-star ratings are rarely given unless the item is completely worthless and not worth the money, and I am only giving that rating as a warning to others. Some items have received lower ratings because of the way they were made or put together, and it is getting that review because of the quality of the item, which is specifically described in my review. It has to be pretty bad to get these ratings from me!

Fantastic invention, but overpriced, but I love 'em!!!
I love this product. I feel like a Pinterest fail because how they look on MY shoes is NOT how they look on the Hickies shoe models. But, I have shoes with tabs, not holes (see my photos). I bought them because my laces are always coming undone and tripping me at the worst times. I even broke my ankle a few months back because of that. Glad I didn't hit my head when I went down. I've tried double tying my laces, using short laces, knotting the laces...and nothing worked. I don't remember this being a big problem when I was a kid. I'm 60 now. Active, and I own more sneakers than heels. So....Here we go: PROS: very easy to install or lace into your shoes. Took me 5 minutes and I have tabs I had to coax the Hickies through. Very sturdy and flexible, but keep sharp fingernails away from them. They look like you could pinch them in half!! lol!! Lighter than shoelaces. You get three options for lacing - tight, regular, medium, so if you're not happy with the tension, just change the way they're laced. The instructions tell you how. If you like color coordinating stuff, they come in enough colors to do that. If you don't like looking like you're a 5-year old you can get plain old black. They won't make your feet look less fat, but no one will notice you don't have laces. Good, clear, easy to follow instructions, if you don't have questions and are a visual learner. Really, you can figure this out. If you can't, then maybe someone else DOES need to be putting your shoes on for you. Good packaging and arrived a day ahead of schedule. Under promise and overdeliver is always a good policy. These are the kind of things design and package wise Apple might make. There are 14 Hickies in a package - enough for most shoes and extra if something breaks. They won't get knotted when wet. In fact, water won't affect them at all. I sail and kayak and these are perfect for slipping my shoes off and on with one hand as I usually have a paddle or something in one hand anyway. They slip on and off easily. Your kids are going to love them. Your spouse is going to love them. CONS: INsanely, ridiculously overpriced. I can see $10, or would snap up a dozen boxes at $8, but $14.99!? And I see that price has dropped a buck since I bought mine. I'd have rated them a 5-star except for the price. There could be enough for two pairs of shoes, at first I thought there were. But, no such luck. You'll use 10-12 of the Hickies and then have a few spares to throw into a junk drawer where you can't find them if one breaks. I think if they'd include another four to six hickies for the price, so you get enough for two shoes with no spares, the price would be resonable. I am using one of the spares to hold my gym key to my shoe. I think as long as there is tension on it, it should be fine. You can also loosen a Hickey to thread a car key or even those key/money wallets to the shoe, so that's good, but I'm too lazy to move it up to the PROS. I'm really trying to find a CON, but I can honestly say the price is the only think I can see right now. I've slipped them off and on a couple of times, and walked around in them and they're really great. The "regular" tension is fine for me. I guess if you're a runner or you obcess about how your shoes fit you'll have to fiddle with the tension, but as one short, fat, old lady who mostly walks for exercise and spends a lot of time with her feet in the water, I love 'em.

Perfect Fit, Perfect Comfort, Perfect Stability, Perfect Ease On & Off.
Like Night and Day. Best shoe lacing system I have ever used. My shoes are more comfortable, stable, and easier to get on and off. I have size 12 6E feet with a very high instep. As a chef, I am on my feet most of the day. The ability to change the lace size depending on the place of the eyelets on my shoes to match the contours of my feet makes a huge difference between Hickies and fabric laces. So far the Hickies system works on sneaker style shoes, heavy duty non-slip work shoes, and shoes that go slightly above the ankle. I have noticed that several folks have complained that the laces were too tight. In order to get the right fit, it is essential to go to the Hickies.com website where they have both videos and pictures of different lacing styles and loose/tight dynamics. Actually I modified the extra loose instructions to get the laces to work. I have read some negative reviews about the laces snapping. I hope I do not have to revisit the site to downgrade this review. However, I imaging that getting the size right may help eliminate this potential issue.

May not be suited to high arches
These are cute and seem like a good idea, but are too small/not stretchy enough. I wear a women's 8.5 medium and trying to get my foot in the shoe caused these to unsnap every time. I do have a somewhat high arch, which may have affected the fit

Watch the installation videos online for instructions!
So many reviewers complain that these didn't fit right. The instructions on my box were covered with a label I couldn't get off, but I could read enough to see that they had a website, so I visited their website and watched enough of their videos to figure out (A) how to install them on my type of shoes and (B) how to install them with the proper tension so they wouldn't be too tight or too loose. The whole thing took about twenty minutes from the time I opened the Amazon package to the time I walked away with my new Hickies installed. That seems pretty good to me. A little bit about myself: I HATE shoe laces. People think I'm funny about this, but tying shoes is one of the few things in life that I absolutely hate. If it were up to me, we would all just go barefoot and/or wear sandals in the summer and UGGs in the winter...anything to avoid having to sit down and tie shoes. Consequently I have worn many pairs of shoes in my life that were either less attractive than they should have been or less healthy for my feet, just to avoid tying stupid shoes. I know, it's a weird quirk, but that's how I am. For Christmas my wife got me a really nice new pair of Asics. They fit great and feel great. I love them enough to wear them all the time despite the laces. But then I saw an ad for these Hickies and figured I'd give them a try (even with all the bad reviews). My shoes still fit great and now they're slip-ons. The timing has been perfect, because I recently badly injured myself and can't cross my leg to tie my shoes until I heal up. It's great to be able to just step right into my nice shoes. (For the record, maybe I'm a nutjob and maybe I'm not. I know it's a weird quirk, but I just really don't like tying shoes and it bugs me that they come untied at the most inconvenient time in my day. I'm happier not tying my shoes.) UPDATE (July 2016): I've been using these for over six months now and I still love them, but they don't last forever. If you have used these for a few weeks/months and decide that you like them, buy another pack and keep a few in your desk drawer at work and some at home. That way if/when one of them snaps, you'll be able to replace it with a fresh one.

Should have listened to others....
I really wanted to like these. I have a pair of sneakers that I left the laces loosely tied so I could slip them on and off, so I thought these would be the perfect solution of not having untied laces but still being able to slip on/off. They went in easy enough, look good, and should work, right? As others have complained, the first defect is they're too tight. Fully lacing them meant the shoes were awful tight. So, rather than using a full set for each shoe, I only applied 4-5 Hickies per side, rather than the 7-8 eyelets on the shoes. This gave me the right amount of pressure, still tighter than the loosely tied laces, but better than fully Hickied (is that a word?). Then came the next problem that others have complained about: they break. Now, the top Hickie on each shoe breaks about every two weeks, and I don't wear these every day; so, say after every ~5 times wearing them or so. I replace the top one (remember I have extras now since I don't use them all), and 2 weeks later, it breaks. Super frustrating and unacceptable. And I'm not going all-out in these shoes, I'm usually just walking in them (maybe a short jog after my runaway 4 year old). I'm not their product designer but it seems they need to develop a more elastic version; this would (hopefully) solve both problems: they wouldn't be as tight, and they wouldn't break. Until then, however, they're a total FAIL. I don't recommend them and will go back to my old laces (luckily I kept them) when the remaining ones inevitably break.

Works perfectly with a Mens 11 EEE WIDE feet
Considering I wear US Mens 11 EEE Wide and have it fully laced to the top, I found it silly how many reviews are blasting this as being too "narrow". On the hickies official website they have guides on how to lace these properly. Regular, Loose, Tight, Mixed, Extra Loose, Extra Tight, Classic and Loops. Anyone who has smaller feet than mine has not properly experimented with the various possible pattern combination. I have worn it without issues for a month and it has not snapped. So if you are smaller than me, you will not have any issues. ( hickies.com/pages/how-it-works ) I personally have the bottom most as "regular" (straight across), followed by 2 sets of "loose" (skip a hole) and at the very top "extra loose" (next hole up). So please, look up the various methods lacing before complaining to everyone that these "do not work". I love it, easy to slip on in the morning and slip off at work (or back on in a hurry when the boss walks by) If you have bigger feet, or if you want to try figuring out if these would potentially work for you, try experimenting with a piece of string. The "shaft" of the lace is approx 3.5 inches or about 8.75cm. The center "knot" is .5 inches or 1.25cm (formed by the overlapping head and tail of the hickies). So take a seven strings about the size of the shaft, loop it through and figure out what pattern would give you enough length where the gap meeting in the middle (representing the overlapping knot) between the strings (shaft size) is at or less than the size of the "knot" (.5in/1.25cm). Hickies should really include a little pull out manual with lacing strategies or direct users to the website. Any instructions appears to be part of the plastic package itself and that gets covered by all of Amazon's lovely inventory stickers and barcodes. My only other "complaint" depending on how you lace it, the "knot" may have a tendency to "roll over" showing the bottom side. It makes me a little bit OCD when they are not perfectly lined up down the center and all facing up.
