Great disc lock if you're looking for something small with adjustability
Item came in original packaging but the instructions seem a bit outdated. Battery worked right out of the box and so did the connectivity with the app (as of mid 2025). The alarm function is quite loud when your next to the bike, but to be honest, not easy to hear in the house. The lock itself seems durable and secures well. The locking pin on the other hand is not the kind that "engages" like the larger models. Rather, it is just a straight pin that pushes through. There are some sensitivity quirks like really loud cars and heavy gusts of wind have set it off, but making small adjustments depending on your location through the app is a cinch. The lock is quite solid and has some heft, along with the app access, it's not a bad value proposition. The lock and alarm functionality, along with the addition of the chain attachment, you have a good all-in-one deterrence system. Only issue I had was when it would not recognize it was attached to my disc and therefore wouldn't arm. Had to remove and insert the battery to resolve the issue. Also required repairing but it's worked for weeks since.

Very loud
Great product. Works very good and when it goes off, it’s very noticeable.

It's loud for it's size and definetly sensitive to movement
The lock encloses all the electronics inside the metal shell so they can't be attacked easily. I'm sure an angle grinder would make short work of the shell and then the lock would be broken. However, long before the angle grinder got more than 1/4" into a corner, the alarm would be blaring! Like the videos I have seen, all it takes is a small jostle of the area locked to the brake rotor and the alarm starts chirping and then blasts you with annoying noise. The alarm disable is sort of odd. Turn the key, pop the lock and it will take a couple of seconds before the alarm shuts off. Be quick about opening the lock and you will get a couple of chirps and that's all. I think the firmware needs to shut off the alarm immediately after the lock opens. The delay is annoying!

It was a good start... Pt2: A silver lining
Initially, I was pleased with the xena disc lock; I used it on my BMW F650gs; it worked out of the box; setup was easy; the app worked as expected, although it's somewhat feature poor. My issue started 3 wks after install; I went out to go riding; only to find, the unit was DOA (only 3 wks!😒); I tried reviving it; to no avail. I reached out to xena support; 3 days passed w/o a response. So, these are disappointments😞; I was trusting this unit as a layer of security. Overall, I think this product is still a work in progress(incomplete). Let's hope my replacement works longer. The effort to get a simple replacement (not a refund or return) was hard! "its like getting back in line getting my money back, and going through the entire shopping process over; much too time consuming; bad customer service; the idea is to make it easier for the customer!7.31.20 - Pt2: A silver liningI received my second unit on July 13th and installed it. I was contacted by a Xena customer support agent, there was an apparent email technical issue; they attempted to contact me on July 1st; They're quite diligent, and I was assured they stand behind their product and, my issues would be resolved. So, it's been approximately 3wks, and the new unit is holding a charge (very well 😁). Overall, I'm pleased with the Xena product (fit, function, customer service). On a side note, I also learned of new features in pipe(exciting)!

Works Until It Doesn't
Sometime tried to steal my scooter when I moved into this neighborhood so I decided to up my security and added this disc lock.1. For the first several months I had it, the only way to arm or disarm it was through the app. I hated that because I always had to have my phone handy (and a free hand to use it!) when approaching or leaving my moped. I thought this was normal.2. Soon I realized that I was occasionally "arming" it in the app and when I got back to the scooter I'd open the app to disarm it.. and it had already disarmed itself. The app would also not always link to the lock causing a lot of embarrassing situations where i would try over and over to use the app to shut off the alarm, with no luck. I had to wrap the screaming alarm in a sweatshirt and throw it inside my scooter several times.3. So I wrote to the company about this issue.. and as we were troubleshooting they asked why I didn't just use the key to make the alarm stop.. and I explained that my key has *never* made the alarm stop. They told me that *wasn't* normal and that theoretically I should be able to arm the lock with the app and then put it on and off the bike all I wanted with the key alone. So they sent me a new sensor/battery pod.4. The new pod linked well to the app and also allowed me to use it without the app when needed.5. I changed the batteries one day and the little piece of plastic that holds the sensor and battery pod inside the metal encasing broke off. I decided not to connect to the app because I really wasn't using it much.6. Now any time I am riding and it's in my scooter trunk or bag.. it alarms because the battery thing/sensor is shifting and it thinks someone is messing with the batteries.7. So I take out the batteries, put them back in. I delete the app and re-download it. I connect the lock to my wheel and re-connect it to the app.BIg mistake. Now, because I'm using the app again, the key no longer disarms the alarm. Only the app. I'm back to pulling my phone out every time I get on or off the bike. So imagine my dismay the other day when my phone was in the shop for repairs and I couldn't shut my alarm off after work when I went to ride away. The alarm just alarms the whole time I am riding to go anywhere because I can't disarm it, and I live in a pretty high scooter-theft area so I can't leave it overnight without the lock.Today I took the battery out and put it back in to try to "reset" it. But my key still won't shut the bugger off. I thought I had fixed it, but as I carried it out to my bike it began alarming, the key wouldn't shut it off, and I had to run through my building with the alarm SCREAMING as I tried to muffle it under my shirt.I've reached out to the company twice with no response. I took the batteries out today and am using it as just a lock (a really expensive lock). The app is a cool idea but always seems to mess with my ability to use the key quickly to disarm it, and I hate being reliant on my phone in situations like this. So unless I hear from them by tomorrow, I'm buying a new disc lock without blue tooth.
