Devices in Use :- DVD Player/Streaming device - Oppo DVD player - BDP-105, Receiver / Processor - Emotica UMC200 1080P Display - LG PF1500 HDMI cable to Projector - HDMI 1.4, 30 ft Flashmen HDMI Booster 2.0 (used without the power cable) Problem statement :- HDMI output from Processor/Receiver to the Projector was probably not strong enough and at times it worked fine. But very frequently the picture kept flickering every few seconds and even dropping the input signal at times making it unwatchable. On attempting to disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable on the project end, it would work for some time and then the problem would keep recurring. Steps taken to fix issue. - Surprisingly same 30 ft cable with direct HDMI output from Oppo DVD player (with Oppo doing video & sound processing) to Projector worked fine. But was a problem when connected from Oppo to Emotiva to LG projector. (with Emotiva doing the video & sound processing). - Tried the following connections. 1 & 2 did not solve the problem. 3 worked. :- 1 - Failed - Oppo DVD player > 4 ft HDMI cable > Emotiva > 4 ft HDMI cable > HDMI booster > 30 ft HDMI cable > LG Projector 2 - Failed - Oppo DVD player > 4 ft HDMI cable > Emotiva > 30 ft HDMI cable > HDMI booster > 4 ft HDMI cable > LG Projector 3 - Pass - Oppo DVD player > 4 ft HDMI cable > HDMI booster > 4 ft HDMI cable > Emotiva > 30 ft HDMI cable > LG Projector. The Picture is quite stable. (Also not sure if I am imagining this, but the picture quality & Audio also appears to be better now.) Conclusion :- The video signal from Oppo was not strong enough for the Emotiva UMC200 and it was further degrading the video signal to a point of failure while processing. It appears Emotiva does not boost the HDMI video signal it receives from the Oppo DVD player and the interface only makes the signal weaker. As the Oppo DVD player worked fine by itself when connected to the LG projector the problem appears to be the weak signal handling by Emotiva. The problem also appears to be on the Oppo DVD player as infrequently (every once in a while) I see the same problem even when connecting the Oppo DVD player directly to the LG projector. It appears the HDMI o/p signal from Oppo is weak. Boosting the Oppo HDMI Output with the Flashman HDMI booster before sending it to the Emotiva Processor solved the problem. I also noticed that the LG projector's HDMI input 1 is weaker than Input 2. Input 2 does a better job of handling weak HDMI signal compared to Input 1. To an extent, no device in the signal chain from DVD player to Receiver to Projector is perfect and each has its own quirks and flaws influencing the picture & audio quality. Adding a 4th device to the signal chain (HDMI booster) introduces another point of failure. However for now, this HDMI booster appears to have solved the problem by enhancing the HDMI signal output from the Oppo DVD player. I have been using the HDMI booster for approx 2 weeks now (without connecting it to power) so cannot comment on the durability of the device. For now, it works for me. After some trial and error I was able to identify the weak link in my system and used this device to solve the problem.

First, I did not need tech support. It was definitely plug and play. On the negative, I did not like the length of USB power cord (too short) or that there was no power adapter that came in box. Going beyond these two negatives, I scrounged a power adapter (with USB output) and plugged it in. To my surprise, the HDMI signal booster works perfectly using my CAT 6 Ethernet cable and HDMI converters. THEN, I tried the fiber optic HDMI cable that I gave up for dead four years ago but never cut it off at the wall. (I had assumed that I broke the fiber when I installed it initially.) To my even more surprise, the fiber optic HDMI cable also works great. I am now using my fiber optic HDMI cable and have my Ethernet cable in reserve for future needs. The length of the amp, DirecTV, and Fire Stick is in a closet about 130 feet (wire length). It is the best $38 that I have spent in a LONG time. (It is a one way feed from the amp to the TV.) What I am finding is that using my Harmony remote to power up the picture and sound through an amp, the local TV now turns on automatically. Another pleasant surprise!

Works well

I had purchased this for a Conference room at work where some laptops weren’t connecting to the Tv with a hdmi over Ethernet set in line so I wanted to see if this would help. I did not, I believe that issue is specific to a model of laptops. But a few weeks after that, I was working in another conference room and was having issues with the picture displaying the content all choppy. I put it in line so the setup is: hdmi cable on the table for the source, to hdmi over cat5/6, to hdmi cable, hdmi signal booster, to a 1x4 output splitter, then into a 4x1 splitter which then finishes to the tv over hdmi. My other thought was the hdmi cables weren’t the right or same standard all the way through but I don’t have to look thanks to the signal boost.

Does not help for my projector.

I don't know why the 25 foot HDMI cable I've been using for two years stopped working, but it did. Something fried my GPU and the HDMI on the big-screen TV on the other side of the room that I use as a monitor to help avoid tweaking the fried cones on my re-built eyes. I immediately figured out the fried GPU because it was solid gone. The port on the monitor was intermittent for a couple of days, so that slowed down the solution. A new GPU and cable didn't solve the problem, even after the port finally went solid dead. This 'HDMI Booster' did the trick. For some reason a plain 25 foot HDMI cable won't work with the new, cheaper GPU I got, but with this little booster all is working fine again. Trying to solve the problem, I read a lot of advice that 25 feet should work fine without a booster and some that said the HDMI booster was a good idea. If you've got a requirement to run a long HDMI cable and it's not working, I'd suggest giving this HDMI Booster a try.

Perhaps this would work OK for short runs, but not for the LONG run I had. I bought a wireless HDMI broadcast device that did the trick great. It broadcasts all around the whole house.

I have a unique setup for my media center and ran a 35’ HDMI cable through the ceiling to eliminate any cables showing. Thile this was great for looks the HDMI signal would drop intermittently and was annoying. I found this item which is fantastic quality and a great value for the money. I used tape to mount it to the back of the television and allow the heat to dissipate. No lag and no overheating, a great value!

Stopped working in a month and no idea who to approach to get it repaired/replaced.

Had issues with my long HDMI wire, picture would flash and sometimes go black. Purchase and installed this device and it fixed the problems, I no longer have image flickering and no black screens, works great, highly recommend. Shipping was quick.

is not really a booster, it do nothing, signal power is exactly same with or without it

No image. Sound only. Trash.
