desertcart.com: The Little Prince: 9789386538222: Saint-exupery, Anotine De: Books Review: Timeless Message - The story of The Little Prince is so beautifully written and this timeless tale is decorated with wonderful illustrations throughout. It makes for a great present for friends. Review: I loved this book with it's sweetness - First, it amazes me that this book is in so many different languages, and has such a following, but I have never had the inclination to read it until I read The Book Jumper. I loved this book with it's sweetness, insight, and charm. The Little Prince leaves his very small planet that he is from and the flower that he has tended to go on an adventure to learn new things and make friends. He visits several planets, but cannot make sense of them. Each one has a character with an attribute that can often be found in adults and the world. As Exupery has his fun with these characters, the little prince moves toward new adventures. On earth, he meets a pilot that he talks to. The two talk about Earth, his world, and the flower he left behind, whom he misses deeply. In his travels here The Little Prince sees other flowers like his- roses- but realizes that they aren't as special. He also finds a friend in a fox that he tames and grows to love and care for. I found this small book profound in that, at least to me, it reminds us of the things that we care about. The relationships we create are what makes things special and important. He missed his friend the rose so much that he found a way to return to his planet a year after leaving. It reminded me to take time to tend to my own special things, and be aware of the loved ones I have. To allow time for magic, and not take my adult self too very seriously. In this way, though it is written for children, I feel that adults need to reread this too. Plus, it is just a great story. Five stars! Now, this book is so popular that not only did it get translated into 300 languages and has had at least two authors write stories to take place later with The Little Prince. The Little Prince Returns was written by Jean-Pierre Davidts where a shipwrecked narrator finds The Little Prince on a deserted island. Ysatis de Saint Simone (niece of Consuelo de Saint Exupery) wrote one entitled The Return of The Little Prince. There were movie adaptations, stage plays, opera, anime, pop-up books and graphic novels (I have to find this!) It has it's own swag-bags, socks, toys and adult coloring book. Honestly, this is not just a book, it's a following! I am not ashamed to say that I am a bit obsessed. Thank goodness I took the time to read this one. As there is no real adult content (one planet has a drunk), I would say that this book is for everyone. Have you read it?

Inspiring Book For Young And Old!
I know I've read this book in the past, but I decided to read it again with my eight-year-old and at first, I didn't know if I even understood it. But as we read on, we both started to get it. It's obviously a classic and has inspired both of us to seek adventure and beauty in the world, even more than we already do. At the end, I was sad to say goodbye to the Little Prince, as I had become attached to him. I think my eight-year-old was sad too, and perhaps a little bit confused. A charming classic with beautiful messages of imagination, love, and friendship.

Typos mar an otherwise perfect book
Of course this book is brilliant; we all know that. This edition, however, has obviously been optically scanned and printed without being proofread. "Naïve" always appears as "nad've", for instance, and there are mistakes in capitalization, that sort of thing. But otherwise, the book is well-printed, with the illustrations as they should be. If you really love this book, get a better edition. But one can't beat the price!

A Book That Somehow Breaks and Heals Your Heart in the Same Sentence
This hardcover edition is as timeless as the story itself—beautifully bound, with pages that feel like they’re holding stardust and wisdom. Whether you’re reading it for the first time or the fiftieth, it still hits like a quiet meteor of meaning. It’s philosophy disguised as a children’s tale, with foxes, roses, and just enough heartbreak to remind you you’re human. A book that belongs on every shelf, and honestly, probably in every therapy session too.

Pictures placed randomly in the story
I read the original translation of The Little Prince on a PDF online and liked it so much that I had get a physical copy of the book. This one was the cheapest I could find that uses the original Katherine Woods translation, plus the cover is neat and attractive. However, the biggest issue I have is that the pictures inside the book seem to be randomly placed within their chapters, sometimes even in a different chapter from where the image should appear. This is especially glaring in the early chapters like Chapter 2, which I've attached photos of, where the pictures are part of the story itself - as in, the text will literally say something like "So I drew this: [PICTURE]", thus if you put the WRONG picture there, the story makes no sense. Placing the images in random spots scrambles storytelling as badly as if you'd mixed up the order of sentences. I had to add footnotes into my copy to link up where each sheep picture should appear in the text in order to make the story comprehensible. The pictures themselves are also of low quality and splotchy, which is to be expected of a small, black-and-white copy of the book. But it did only cost $5, and the actual physical book + text is fine. Sadly, the picture scrambling of the sheep pictures in Chapter 2 is bad enough that I wouldn't give this booklet as a gift to anybody I want to share the story with.

This book features a hardcover with crisp printing, bright white paper, and thick pages similar to photocopy paper. Additionally, I bought another edition of "The Little Prince" that uses light yellow paper, making it more eye-friendly. The book contains both colored and black-and-white illustrations, providing a pleasant tactile experience. Overall, this is an excellent gift, perfect for children or adults who appreciate fairy tales.
