Poems to Perform: A Classic Collection chosen by the Children's Laureate Hardcover – Illustrated, 23 May 2013

I needed a children's poem to perform in my acting class and I found plenty of choices in this book! On top of that, it was a fun read as well! Totally worth it!

Interesting collection of poems By various authors. Some are funny, some scary, and some a bit too serious for kids. But many to choose from and they are good for developing vocabulary and starting discussions about some things with kids.

A nice selection of poetry for children.

Bought this book for my university studies. However, both my kids will now ask for a new poem. They are only 2 & 4. I am so happy it's given them an interest and a taste for poetry and hopefully it will help with their language devekooment.

Happy with purchase

This book was perfect and a great choice for the little girl it was bought for. Looks like we now have a budding poet in our sights as its given her great insparation. These are the sort of books that should be provided in school. All kids a have a talent and they just need a good book to encourage them.

A bundle of poems written mostly by people who are not the author. Plenty of redundant ‘I’ve got’. Why would a professional writer say ‘I have got’ instead of the correct ‘I have’ got is utterly redundant and overused to the point I edited some of the poems so they sounded cleaner and are written in correct English.There is a slight Christian bias in some of the poems so I ripped those out because I don’t want my daughter exposed to such content. Overall, the poems are nearly all mediocre at best. Some are utterly atrocious, such as the London 2012 one. What small child remembers that or will ever care?

I enjoyed reading it to my kid (6.8 yrs) and we both laughed.. creative poems.. diverse genre..varying emotions.. some profound..some silly...few relatable..another astonishing..Overall, I look forward to picking up the book and reading aloud to him again.

Not such interesting stories and bad illustrations

Je croyais que c'était l auteur qui avait composé ces poésies, en fait c'est moi qui ai mal lu. Mais l'ouvrage est adorable

Julia Donaldson stories are real good for small kids to read but Poems may not suit all kids. Overall a fine book.
