does this control module have to be programmed? or is it a plug in and go

Unfortunately has to be programmed. I made the mistake thinking it would be plug and play. I had the dealer program and it works great. Still less expensive tha buying from the dealer. Nick.

It's possible. But, if you haven't already had your car control systems scanned for codes, you should do that first and find out if any codes that come up can isolate the shifting problem. You could have a mechanical problem with your transmission. And, if you did replace your current TCM, you would still need to take it to a dealer to have it programmed to your cars options codes. Each car has what is called an RPO ( I believe that stands for Regular Production Options) that is programmed into it's system at the end of the assembly line. If you have a code scanner OBD II plug it in to the connector under the dash and pull the codes so you can find out more.
