A really nice and fun little instrument!
This is a really neat little instrument. I have a concert ukulele that I love, and wanted to add a little depth and dimension to my recordings, so I decided to order the Yamaha Guitalele. It turned out to be just what I wanted. With the extra 2 strings, it adds more range and tone compared to the ukulele, and it actually works well for either fingerpicking or strumming. My primary instrument is the mandolin, and I find the Yamaha compliments and supports the mando really well in recordings. That's not always the case with a full-size acoustic guitar, because full-size guitars are so boomy and bassy when recorded, and they muddy up the sound of the mandolin. Not so with the guitalele! The tonal quality is really nice when strummed as the backing track for the lead mandolin track. It lends a really nice mellow quality to the recording without the boominess of a full-sized guitar. The build quality of my Yamaha is quite good.......no glue marks or issues, action is reasonably good, frets are clean and acceptable. My guitalele came with several accessories, and was well-packed. On the whole, this is a fun little instrument that works well for recording or just playing on the couch. I've become a real fan of ukuleles recently, and this is a nice addition to my collection. Definitely recommended.

Great for travel or little ones.
I teach music lessons for young starters, as early as 4-5 years old. This guitalele is a hit! Easy to hold, keeps tuned, transportable and looks really cool.

Sounds like a ukulele, plays like a guitar
It's basically a classical guitar capo'ed on the 5th fret. Living in a small apartment, I love its small size and sound volume. The fret is slightly wider than a acoustic guitar, making it easier for finger styling. My third string was torn after a year of playing, so the backup strings came in handy.

Pretty cool!
What a cool little instrument! I've been playing it for over a month now and think I'm finally getting used to it. The sound is bold but isn't super high quality, but isn't awful either. It was hard for me to get used to the condensed neck at first but the more I play it the better I get. For a hundred bucks it was worth trying it out.

Ukulele made for Travis picking! Love it!
Absolutely love it! It sounds almost like my Córdoba tenor ukulele! It is a tiny bit larger than my tenor ukulele but not by much. The fret width is the same as my tenor ukulele so it is perfect for my small hands. While I don’t have a baritone ukulele or a classical guitar to compare with I would say it’s sound is nearly identical to my tenor ukulele (slightly fuller sound)...with two extra strings for Travis picking. It sounds nothing at all like the Yamaha JR2 and is way smaller. In the pics...left to right...concert uke, tenor uke, Guitalele...then...tenor uke, Guitalele, Yamaha JR2 acoustic. It came well packaged with all the accessories and was simple to tune. I would recommend this Guitalele (as is) for a uke player that likes fingerpicking or wants deeper tones while playing. I felt that this was worth the purchase price.

Unexpected
I thought this guitalele would be a lot more durable, but upon receiving it in the mail, I thought it was incredibly lightweight and felt somewhat cheap. It didn't take too long to tune, but it's more like a tiny guitar. That's probably what guitalele means though:)
