Does work as described and decent brightness, not really a night light (due to it being very bright)
I know it is not really something which happens in US but back in my home country, power going off at random times, even during evenings and nights is quite frequent in many parts. Then we all scramble around the house to find torch and candles and in the process, many a times hurt ourselves due to the darkness. In commercial establishments we have seen those emergency lights which come on automatically when the power goes but those are too big for residential use. This emergency light plugs directly in the wall socket and keep charging itself when supplied with power. There is a small red LED indicator which will indicate that it is charging. This indicator is pretty bright and will be on till the time the emergency lightโs internal battery is not charged. Yes this light itself has a 700mAh internal battery and they power 13 LED cool (as in color temperature) white lights.Alongside the charging indicator LED, you have a switch which has 3 modes. Assume I have plugged into the socket with the plug on down side. Now, If the switch is Down, it acts as an emergency light. So if power is turned off to the socket or you pull out the light, the LEDs automatically light up. You should keep it this way all the time if you want it to come on automatically when you have power failure. If you want it to be continuously on, then put the switch to the upper most part. This way the light charges as well as is on all the time. This can be useful if you want to light up a hallway or some dark corner of the house. If you keep the switch in center, the light will not glow but if plugged in into the wall socket, it will keep charging itself. In the description it says Night light but it is not really a night light, it is just too bright to be used as night light. I am not sure if you can use as a flashlight since it does not have a focussed beam or adjustable beam (like some flashlights have). This is more of an illuminating light which does a good job at that. For the price I donโt really have any complaints.*I received a sample of this product for testing and evaluation and all my opinions are based on my usage of the product.

and we recommend them as a low cost and easy way to ...
The size is a bit large for the number of LEDs, however it serves the purpose, which is to have an emergency light source in case of a power outage. They do leave room for you to plug another item into a duplex outlet ( 2 plugs). These are not Night-Lights, they only light up when the power goes off, or when you turn the switch on to use as a flashlight; so they won't run down being used in an unlighted room. We purchased three units for use in our office bathrooms, which do not have windows; as we have had several storm related outages during the past year. From a Safety standpoint, these are well worth the cost, and we recommend them as a low cost and easy way to add to your emergency lighting.

Great amount of life but product short life
Bright light but short life span. I purchased this product in October 2015. The first time I had a power outage after purchasing it did it's job and had plenty of light. It is now June 2016 and it no longer works. It did not come on during a brief outage. This was a package of three and none of them work. The light does come on if you plug it in and turn it on, otherwise nothing. So great price but poor quality. Lesson learned.

This was my second purchase. I like the first one enough to purchase another for another room. It's bright and fits onto my outlet nicely. That was my review summer.A few months later, I just had my first power failure. The first light works as it should. The second light didn't work even though the red charging light indicated everything was OK. The second light will only work when plugged in which is no use to me. I tried charging it in different outlets without success. I'm not happy that the second light is not functional and wondering if I should replace the first light because I feel it might not be dependable.

Great for Power Outages, As a Flashlight, and in an RV
The Emergency Automatic Power Failure Outage LED Lamp features 13 LEDs and the options to either leave it on all the time, use it as a flashlight or as an emergency light. We have frequent power outages here, and with this lamp, I no longer have to scramble in the dark to find candles. The LEDs are VERY bright and do a great job of lighting up an ample area. Its use as a flashlight is quite helpful, especially when attempting to locate my escapee cat in the yard for the umpteenth time. This Lamp makes an excellent light in an RV, because sometimes its batteries are not fully charged, making it impossible to use the regular lights. It is also an integral part of one's storm preparedness kit, particularly in places like Florida or Texas where the weather knocks the power out often.I received this product gratis for the purpose of providing an independent evaluation and review.

Junk. Don't waste your money.
Bought this in February, it's now July and it doesn't work as it's supposed to. If it's plugged in, I can make it go on. But if the electricity goes off or I pull it out of the wall plug, it's dead as a door nail. The reason I bought it was so that if I suddenly lose power in the house, then I would have some light go on automatically and not be groping in the dark for a flashlight. This DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. There is an on and off button on the unit, but if it's not plugged in to the wall, it DOES NOT GO ON AT ALL! Of course, it's been longer than a month since I bought it so I can't return it. It was a waste of money. How do these sellers get away with this stuff?

High failure rate
Update:Three of the 6 I bought have failed for exactly the same reason. The positive wire detached from the battery. I was able to re-solder two of them and they are working again. Such a shame, this could have been an excellent product.Great emergency light, we installed 6 throughout our large windowless building and tested them by turning the power off. They came on instantly and provided sufficient light to find our way out safely but not enough to us to continue working. I will see how long they last.
