It really should be called a "shooting sheet". As others have pointed out it is not padded and I would not call it a "mat", but as a consequence it is a very convenient size packed and therefore easy to carry & use. It rained while I was shooting so I used it to cover all my kit which it kept dry and after the shower used it to lay on and I stayed dry so it is 'waterproof' to a certain degree. For the price, convenience and performance as a shooting sheet to take places with little effort and keep the dirt off me while prone I'm very happy with the purchase. It's a "different thing" from a padded. 3 section bulky shooting mat. Both have their uses and this fulfils it's use well.
