How noticeable is the pouch? Will they pass as regular briefs in the locker room?

Unfortunately in my opinion they will not pass as regular briefs. The way the pouch is designed there is a flap that covers the "twig" as it were. The material kind of bunches at the opening so they do not look natural. Also the material, although comfortable, is completely different than regular briefs.

European here. i have a *hip* circumference of 91 cm (36"). the chart and reviews list *waist* though, so i’m confused. which size is right for me?

I would say that a Large would probably work best for you if you like your pants snug, Extra Large if you like them loose. Just based on my having a 32" waist and having several pair of Medium that are just a wee bit on the loose side for me. "Waist measurement", by the way, is where your belt falls on your body -- look at the photo and see where the band goes around the model and measure the circumference of that spot on you - that will be your "waist" size.
