Has anyone used krylon fusion spray paint on these?
with primer?
without primer?

YES, these bases are paintable due to the matte surface and materials.
Krylon paints + white primer will be great for your project.

What kind of paint is recommended. Will deck stain work or does it actually require paint? My wife wants a matching color.  Plz useful answers only!

1. This item is made of material Nylon in BLACK, if black color is preferred, then, painting is NOT required.
2. For other color painting, please use exterior paint, such as Brand: The One, KILZ, Modern Masters, Majic Paints, Montage Signature Paint...
3. The surface of this post base is matte/a little bit rough, suitable for color paint.

Can these be used with a vinyl post, or will the vinyl crack when screwed?

I think the vinyl posts are not so fragile, since they are made of PVC (like water pipes). But please make sure with vinyl post vendors.

To use Myard 4x4 (nominal size) post bases, please make sure the external dimensions of your posts are in 3.5x3.5 (actual size) inches.
