Fabric Screen Printing Ink, 8-Ounce, Black for T-Shirt and Silkscreen Printmaking

I gave this five stars because for a water based screen printing ink, it works pretty well. It's not going to have the coverage on black shirts like you would get with a plastisol ink, but if you prefer easy cleanup? This is works fine. If I want good solid coverage, I flash dry with my heat gun (carefully!) and do a second coat. It's excellent for a beginner because it washes out of the screens, and if you smudge the ink on your shirt you can carefully clean it up with a damp cloth. It's great for kids. So can I get more dramatic color results with this? No. Is it easier to handle than plastisol inks? Absolutely. I've done a lot of white on black, and I am happy with the results and longevity. It's easy to set with my Cricut Easy Press (350F for 40 seconds). Overall an easy to use product.

I bought this ink to use with freezer paper stencils cut with my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine. I used it to make a shirt for my son's first birthday, white on navy blue. The white stayed bright and strong with only one coat! Very happy with the consistency and appearance of this ink on my dark shirt! I used a sponge brush to apply the ink with the stencil. Sometimes it felt like I was using a lot of ink, but it was likely because the sponge soaked it all up. Plus, I wanted the white to be good and heavy, so I didn't skimp. I should mention that I also purchased the black ink and it was actually the first of the two that I used. I'm pretty sure I read reviews that said to use gloves, but I forgot. The seal under the lid was very hard to get off, even with the tab that was there for that purpose. My thumb and fingers ended up covered in the ink after wrestling the seal off the container. Because it was black, it was easy to see the ink everywhere it ended up, on my body and work surfaces. I also wasn't as pleased with my final result with the black ink project I did but it was almost surely my fault because I was afraid to use too much so I probably didn't apply a heavy enough coat. I also used a cheap boys white undershirt that stretched a bunch and cracked the design before I could heat set it. I used gloves with the white ink and the seal on the white ink container came off with the tab the way it was supposed to. My experience was great! But it left me curious. I've done screen printing a few times (took a class in college for my graphic design curriculum) and I feel like using a screen vs the freezer paper would be a more economical use of this ink. It worked great for this project and probably for others I will do in the future, but it left me aching for the screen printing method and experience. In fact, I've looked at the screens and other products available through Speedball and I might be persuaded to shift my focus to using screens instead of freezer paper.

Unbeknownst to me white screen printing ink is HARD to work with. By the second shirt it had hardened to my screen making it impossible to screen print more than one shirt. I'll stick to black!

My bottle was partially open so it got some black ink leaked on one other thing but other than that it really works great

i loved this ink. i needed to put a huge 4x4' logo on a linen table cloth for a trade show for my tallow skin care brand hippie whip, and when no printing company could do what i wanted i figured id get a stencil made and do it myself. this ink made it turn out sooo much better and deeper and easier than i ever thought. the result was SO good. the texture is super thick and easy to work with, and it dries faster than i thought. and by that i mean i did it at like 9pm and it was dry to fold by 2 pm the next day. i did it in layers with a roller for one part, and then i used a really flat tiny brush for outlining with way more product on the brush. so the outlined part took the help of a blow dryer for like 30 min to get fully dry, but the other part was fully dry. and the surprising thing was that it actually washed off any surface or my hands with just warm water if it happened to get on something! i love it and because it was so easy ill probably do lots of cool hand painted designs on shirts and other things !

Color is the exact match to described color. Coverage was consistent. Drying time as expected and setting was great. Always happy with Speedball for screenprinting

The Speedball black fabric ink has been fantastic to work with. It goes on smoothly, gives great coverage, and dries to a bold, solid black that really stands out on shirts. The consistency is perfect—thick enough for crisp prints but still easy to pull across the screen without streaking. Once heat‑set, the print holds up extremely well to washing with no fading or cracking. It’s reliable, beginner‑friendly, and still delivers professional‑quality results. For an 8‑ounce jar, you get plenty of ink for multiple projects. Overall, this is an excellent product and one I’ll definitely keep using for future screen‑printing jobs.
