what are the chemicals that this softener is made from?

Material Data Safety Sheet says Citric Acid and Sodium Chloride, both listed as 30-60%, since the formula is proprietary

Why is this listed as a "City Water" softener cleaner when the Pro Products website describes it as an all-purpose softener cleaner?

Possibly because most City Water sources are not high in iron. There are separate products which are better for cleaning your softener when your water source is high in iron.

Is this a 4 or 5 pound container? Description says 4 pounds but pic shows 5 pounds. Thanks

i am not home to look at it, but i believe it's 4 #

If anyone has an empty 4lb or 1.5lb bottle of this, can you fill it up with water and tell me how many gallons of liquid it holds?

The 1.5 lb bottle is the same size and shape as a quart of motor oil, but a bit thinner. So guessing it would hold about 28-30 oz of water.
