Update after my 1 star review below. Amazon sent a replacement, no return necessary. The replacement is functioning properly. I recommend this for metering a small supply line. i bought this because i'm looking for a small trickle through my whole-house humidifier. in the neighborhood of under 2 gallons an hour. i have this valve turned off as hard as i can. My water company monitors my flow and makes it available to me online. They say my flow is never less than3 gallons a minute .Even while i'm sleeping! gonna try a different one

This valve provides a simple way to add a shut-off in a 1/4-inch line. If all you need is a shut-off valve, however, there is a version that uses a quarter-turn blade-action valve that I would recommend getting instead. The advantage of this model is that you can open and close it part-way, making it particularly suitable for situations where you may need to regulate the flow of water in the line.
