Blackout is completely opaque, works very well
This is for the blackout version. It works great, it is completely opaque. This might sound obvious, but this is not easy to find, as a shift worker, I have tried many "blackout" products that let a lot of light in. I actually found this to be a pretty forgiving DIY project. I'm not particularly good at anything that requires steady hands or fine motor skills, but these sheets stretch and are easy to cut. I even dropped a piece a couple times, but it does unstick from itself and you can clean it off by brushing it. I cleaned the window thoroughly before application, and then sprayed windex on the glass, and it attached just fine. They are easy to remove by pulling, though. Edit: I decided it worked so well that I did another window with the same product. I used a trick on my windows, I got some black electrical tape to cover up the edges where I didn't cut 100% perfectly, plus the tape helps a little with adhesion, although I don't think the film really needs it.That was a few weeks ago now. This film is really great, I can open and close my window, and it isn't coming off or anything. I don't even need to think about it.

WORKS GREAT
O K. I have a south facing window with sun blocking drapes that are very expensive and a little to short so the bright sun hits about 4 inches of my light sensitive floor. I bought this product cut it in half which gave me about an 8 inch strip and applied it to the bottom of the window. Install was a breeze. It completely blocked the light and went on very easily. Perfect for my needs. The only potential issue would be if it comes off but there have been no complaints about that. Here are my suggestions for the install. I cut the product about a half inch longer than i needed. I then cleaned the window thoroughly. I had a 16oz water bottle with 3 drops of dish soap. I sprayed the window, peeled the product and sprayed the back with the water. The result is that when you put it on the window it slides very easily. It was very easy to move and adjust. Being new I put on a little more water than necessary which made more work to squeegee it off. It does not take a lot of water on either surface, just a very light spray will do. Many people use credit cards as a squeegee but i used a 3 inch and 6 inch flexible dry wall knives an they worked like a charm. It was extremely easy to put on an it works exactly as I had hoped. I highly recommend this product.

I'd give it a B+
Having a bedroom that gets full eastern sunlight can be a bit of a nightmare, as many can attest. There came a need for my s/o to work nights when the world went sideways and dawn was no longer a friendly welcome - something had to be done. I'm not displeased with this solution. Pros: - Drastically darkens the room (not completely black out, direct sun can still shine in a tiny bit) - No glues or adhesives required - Straight forward to apply - Landlord friendly Cons: - Not 100% black out - Too much heat and it will slip - just had a corner do it, but after only 4 days in May. - Cutting it precisely for the surface is...a pain in the a** - recommend an art knife and a ruler - Rather easy to tear during placement Ultimately my solution for the 2nd & 3rd con was not pretty, but is effective. I got a bunch of black electrical tape and I taped up all around the edges. No slip, no bits of light peeking through edges

It actually works! Love this window film.
I am extremely happy with this product. Easy to cut and actually sticks to glass. Keeps my room very dark. I overlayed the edges and it helped with small amounts of light stay out when I could not cut it to fit perfect. An absolute must for night shift workers looking to keep room very dark. This is my saving grace to being a night shift worker.

not to easy to install
I purchased this window film to blacken out a small 44" x 8" window over our shower. The window is on the west side of our house and there is a large mirror opposite it in our bathroom. Early afternoon and evening sun reflects off the mirror making any use of the sinks or mirror impossible. Following the instructions of cutting the film to 1/2" larger per side of the window then trimming once the film is installed, is not possible. !st the film is a thick vinyl material with a paper backing. instructions say to clean window of grease and dirt then remove backing from film. using a spray bottle with a few drops of dish soap and 32 ounces of water, spray both the window and the back of the film. OK did that. placed film on window and squeegeed out the water in between Film and window. Here's where the problem begins. corners "do not" sit flat into corners of window. They will need to be notched. the razor blade knife required needs to be new. (sharp). trimming the extra material from the sided and top/bottom needs to be a full cut from end to end. the vinyl material being thicker than film will not allow you to do this without the material pulling off the window. I tried using a razor blade knife, a roller wheel knife, and finally a brand new scalpel. the edges are choppy and allow in light. The roller knife worked best but I was unable to get into the corners. and took a lot of pressure to cut through the vinyl, it made the straightest cut but because of the needed pressure, left areas uncut, hence the film is jagged all around. If you buy this material, I would suggest you measure your window with as much accuracy as possible and cut this vinyl with scissors as close to the measured dimensions as possible. at least it will fit without trimming. Also the material tends to stretch and move as you are squeegeeing out the water. GOOD LUCK

Constantly re installing.
At first, I really enjoyed this product because it instantly made a HUGE 10 degree temperature difference on the amount of heat coming into my home. It was fabulous until day 3 when it all started peeling. I re read the directions and I installed the film once again but it seems to only last 3 days before peeling again. It seems like the heat shrinks it then it starts to fall off. It was a 5 star product until day 3! Maybe I just got a defective roll? I don’t know.

I have tried a lot of blackout products with each one letting me down in terms of blocking out light completely. I put this on and it made a huge difference. There is no light coming through at all. It was okay to install I did it by myself but noticed today in the light there were a couple areas where it slipped during install not completely alligning with the frame. However should be easy to fix since u can remove and replace. Overall good product and I will be purchasing more!

Does not stick

The black is very dark and looks very nice. It completely blacks out the light and it's easy to apply. It remains sticky even after peeling several times to readjust and isnt hard to peel away if it folds on itself. 👍

Overall did not like this product. Pain to install. Cutting it to size was the biggest issue because smaller pieces used to fill gaps don't stick and will cause headaches. Had to use glue and tape to get it to block all light.
