Lamy2000 Black Fountain Pen Broad (L01B)

Very well done fountain pen with gold nib.

A classic masterpiece of functional design. The Lamy 2000 gold nibs are buttery smooth and the ink flow is luxuriously generous. Of course, with the hooded nib the Lamy 2000 has a somewhat notoriously small sweet spot which can take some getting used to but that quickly becomes intuitive.The broad nib makes a bold statement which is appropriate for my tendency to write large. I also have a Lamy 2000 medium nib pen which I use for writing in smaller documents such as filling in forms or writing in my A5 webnote book.The pen is light in weight and the lengths and girth suit the size of my hands and the tapered section is a joy to grip and long writing sessions never fatigue my hand.I did had an issue with the cap on one of my Lamy 2000s recently and it was promptly repaired and returned to me by the Lamy distributor here in Australia at NO CHARGE!

I wish the listing had at least mentioned it came with absolutely 0 original packaging and I’m surprised the pen survived the mail just sitting in a plastic baggie inside a bubble mailer.That being said, it was a good price on a great pen and I don’t need the packaging anyway.The pen itself is flawless. I got the broad nib and wow does this thing perform! Ultra smooth, very broad and juicy with no skipping or hard starts.Bonus: I often also use my pens in reverse for finer lines if they’re capable and this particular pen literally feels like someone specifically tuned the nib for reverse writing as well. In reverse it is super smooth, wet, and puts down a beautiful fine and slightly stub-like line.I knocked off one star for not mentioning at all that the pen comes with no original packaging box or paperwork. The pen itself is a 5 star pen though.

The pen cap comes out easily and stains the clothes. Very poor quality and a waste of money

The Lamy 2000 is a classic pen. Its design seems to have been very well thought out. Shame, then, that it doesn't write that way (or at least mine did not). This pen is a little bit squeaky at best, to non-writing at worst. It's very picky with how you hold it - specifically, the angle at which it is held. If you write anything like me you're bound to skip or not start the pen numerous times while writing because of some rotation your hand makes. Cheap Lamy pens don't do this. I'm not really sure why this one does, but I didn't feel it was worth holding onto, despite its sexy design, so I returned it.

I have had 3 lamy 2000, 1 sadly broke.However, the quality of these pens, materials used, and the nib is just superb.I will say I’ve seen them priced cheaper, but not by a ton, so I can’t complain much.And lastly, I ordered a broad, and I wound up receiving a double broad. I am not complaining, as ideally, a double broad is more of what I was hoping for, so this worked in my favor. However, keep this in mind if you are thinking of getting a broad.

I have used a few fountain pens, and this one is by far the best. It writes smoother, is perfect to hold, looks great, fills easily and cleanly. It's my second one. I have M and B and they're both spectacular. I'm surprised by the negative reviews - never imagined this pen could disappoint.
