Zvezda Models BTR-70 APC Afghanistan Model Kit

Having built some of Zvezda's really high quality kits like their T-90 and terminator offerings, I have to say this kit is a bit of a letdown. Don't quote me but I looked at this kits timeline on the scalemates site and I'm pretty sure sure it's at least 25 years old. It's not a terrible kit, it's just not a really good one. Here's the rundown:- Tires are SOLID rubber with pinholes in them, and look like they won't paint well.- Sprue connection points for some parts are ridiculous....to the point where really small parts are very difficult to remove without damaging them.- Plastic is brittle.- Detail is marginal, soft. Not up to today's expectations by a long shot.- Upper and lower hull mate poorly.- Low quality decals.- Kit isn't exactly what's pictured on the box art. No tow cables, headlight housings are different, etc.On the plus side I got it for less than $30, and yes, I will finish it and probably make it look respectable with paint and weathering, along with a foray into my parts stash for stowage items and such. I'm just saying don't expect Tamiya-like quality with this kit, because it isn't there. This is more reminiscent of an old Revell kit. When a kit shines I will give it all the praise it deserves, but this one is just....... "Average".
