Put your mind at ease. Excellent advice.
When you homeschool... well, no matter what you do so long as you care about your kids that is, you are always worrying about your kids education and well being. Are they getting what they need? Will they be able to make it? Are they safe and happy? These and many other questions run through the minds of stay at home mothers and fathers constantly! But no one feels more responsible for the answers to the questions and worries like a homeschooling parent does. This little book really helped me to relax and calm my inner worries which had gotten so bad I could barely stand the day. I can't thank Durena Wilson enough for writhing this book. It helped me to set aside my worries and just let the day unfold. I still worry, but I let myself take a breath and soak my brain in the knowledge that my kids are doing just fine. I'm no longer terrified that my kids wont be at "grade level", a level that keeps changing anyway. As long as my kids like to learn, That is what matters most :)

A good, quick, inspirational read.
I sat down to read 1 chapter; before I knew it, I was finished with the book! It was a quick read for those time-crunched parents and the book really resonated with me, as I have a simular style of homeschooling. It gave me the much needed confidence boost and inspiration to keep going! I will be recommending this book to all the homeschooling families I know.It also has a section at the end of the book with feedback from her 3 graduated children about this style of homeschooling and why it worked for them, which I'm always curious about.A good, quick read. "The Unhurried Homeschooler" WILL STAY in my homeschool book collection.

The right book at the right time!
This book is filled with encouragement and good advice. After reading it, I feel more than ever that the decision to pull my kid out of public school was the best decision ever! This book gave me the friendly "knock up side the head" I needed to remind me that my child is unique in his way of learning and processing information. He's not under pressure to keep up with his peers and the Common Core State Standards(which was an issue when he was in public school). I have the freedom to choose his curriculum whether basic or advanced and to slow things down and tailor the learning experience around him. Homeschooling is a blessing!

You should read this -- yes, YOU.
This should be the first book anyone reads before homeschooling OR for anyone who is currently homeschooling and a little or a lot of the homeschool experience is frustrating. And it IS wonderfully short, yet covers a lot of important topics.

A Must Have!
I loved this book. In fact I re-read it at the end of our school year each year so that I can remember what is really important in our homeschool as I plan the next year.My copy is covered in highlights and completely worn out from being propped open when I read while I nursed a baby!Durenda homeschooled EIGHT children. She clearly knows what she is talking about. More importantly, Durenda uses that experience and wisdom to help homeschool parents to determine what is important in their homeschool. I LOVE the portion on page 23 where she saysPlease don't let anyone guilt you into thinking that true homeschooling never involves outsourcing any of your kids learning. Remember, the heart of a homeschooling parent is to facilitate what God is orchestrating in their kids' lives. That portion of the book is what really got me. I really appreciate that Durenda repeats over and over again to listen to your instincts. It was SO freeing for me to realize that while I will be homeschooling my children, it is okay if I get help with the advanced math for them!Durenda really encourages homeschooling parents to focus on learning their children really well in order to be the best teacher and advocate for their child's individual needs rather than doing what school districts, books, methodologies, or family members push for.Overall, I give The Unhurried Homeschooling: A Simple, Mercifully Short Book on Homeschooling by Durenda Wilson a solid 5 stars and I recommend it to any and all homeschooling parents. This book also makes a great gift!

THE book every homeschool parent needs to read!
If you’ve ever had a question about whether or not you and your kids will actually survive this homeschool journey. You need this book. It’s a quick read, took me 45 focused minutes, so maybe an hour and a half of leisure reading tops! I re-read it often and have bought it for so many homeschool families now!If you need a little peace and some perspective on how to simplify while increasing the impact, this is your read!

Grateful for this resource...
This book was just the breath of fresh air I needed as I hit a point of weariness last fall while trying to determine God's direction for changes to my daughter's curriculum. Reading a little book like this once or twice a year seems to recharge my spirit and grant freedoms where I might be trying to make things difficult. So thankful for Durenda Wilson's wisdom. :)

Just what I needed to hear
What I loved about this book, besides it being short, and to the point, was that it confirmed some things that the Lord has placed on my heart about slowing down and simplifying. It takes the pressure off everybody and makes learning a whole lot more enjoyable. We’ve applied these principles in this book and let me tell you, they work! It’s so reassuring to have someone with years of homeschooling experience to share what works. I will definitely be referring back to this book in the future, and think it would be a great gift for any homeschool family starting out, or for those sensing a change is needed in their homeschool!

If you're a home educator, this is a must read!
Can't describe the blessing this book has been. I felt any pressure of home educating melt off my shoulders within five minutes of starting, never to return. It echoed what I'd felt in my heart about home ed, and gave me permission to step out from under the 'shoulds' and 'must do' mentality we can so easily fall into. Fabulous read. Extremely grateful to Durenda for writing this!

A lot of praying and bible references going on in this book
This book is already very short, but when you take away all the biblical references it is ridiculously short; cut the book by half. Although I am not religious I don't mind a few references here and there, but this book is over saturated in biblical references and points of views. Very few practical solutions are offered up, just lot of praying. Bummer because I feel like the author does have a lot of experience and would have some insights to share, but it is smothered by all the bible talk.

Short and full of wisdom
"...what matters is that we raise people who love the Lord and are givers, not takers. We want them to find their passions and fulfill the purposes for which they were made."This book was just what I needed as we start our homeschooling journey!

What a breath of fresh air!!!
This book was exactly what I needed as a new homeschooling mom of four! It's easy to feel overwhelmed on this journey. The Unhurried Homeschooler was a practical tool in implementing routine and habits into our day to day, but also a reminder (and encouragement) that God is at the centre of our journey and a reminder of WHY we homeschool. The words of encouragement spilling over the pages, to slow down, become a student of our children, and allow the learning to happen organically was a breath of fresh air!!! I highly recommend this book to anyone feeling overburdened and in need of encouragement!!!
