Happy Amazon Customer reviews Fotodiox Pro Adaptor
Fotodiox Pro Adapter -- Nikon Lens - Canon EOS Camera Adapter for Canon 1d, 1ds, Mark II, III, IV, 5D, 5D Mark II, 7D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, Digital Rebel xt, xti, xs, xsi, t1i, t2i, 300D, 350D, 400D, 450D, 500D, 550D, 1000D I have several 35 year old Nikkor F mount lenses: 24mm, 50mm, 200mm 400mm and 35/135mm zoom. I want to use these on the Canon Rebel T3i which I just purchased. I've researched, and read many reviews on the available adapters. There are cheap, (around $20) adapters, from Fotodiox and other manufactures, which all seem to have bad reviews: bad fitting, cheap quality, etc. I did not want a cheap product. There are also adapters selling for $100 to $200, but I did not want to spend that much. So I went with adapter for $70. I am happy with the quality, is is not cheap, it fits very well, and works fine with no play. Mounting the adapter to the lens is easy, just twist it on until it click (locks) into place. You mount (and remove) the lens (with adapter) on the Canon, the same way you would mount any Canon lens. This is all very easy, the only difficulty is getting the adapter off the lens. The release lever is very small (it has to be), so you have to be careful and not force anything. You push in the release lever, which lifts the spring loaded pin (which locked the adapter to the lens) then you can twist and remove. This is delicate work, like changing ram memory on a mother-board. Not difficult, you just have to be careful. And, probably NOT something you want to do several times a day. If you plan on changing lens frequently, then I would suggest, you install the adapter on the lens, but STOP before it locks into place. It still fits snug and works fine. Or buy one adapter for each lens, so you don't have to remove them. If you are careful removing it you will be OK, but we all get impatient sometime, so just be careful. Is it worth it? HELL YES! My old Nikons lenses are like a Rolex, the Canon and Nikon lens made today are like a plastic $10 watch. Beside the obvious 'feel' difference, my Nikkors are NOTICEABLY sharper and brighter. Focus is also a problem with today's consumer lens, but not with my old lens. The Canon 7d and 5d have more features than the T3i, but as far as quality Video and photography, the quality of the lens is the most important feature, not the megapixels of the sensor.

Good adapter, fits tightly
I bought the Fotodiox Pro Nikon F to Canon EOS lens adapter to experiment with using old Nikkor manual focus lenses on my Canon cameras. Fotodiox offers three models of Nikon F to EOS adapter; this is the mid-price one. I bought it because the cheapest one gets mixed reviews, with some people complaining that it doesn't hold lenses tightly enough. Only the most expensive, on the other hand, includes a chip that allows your Canon camera to confirm focus by lighting up the AF points in the viewfinder. I chose this one because I wanted my lenses held firmly and I figured I could live without focus confirmation. (Also, the focus confirmation model costs twice as much, and I couldn't find it on Amazon anyway. You can order it directly from Fotodiox if you like.) This adapter does its job pretty well. It does indeed hold lenses firmly. My one fairly minor annoyance with the adapter is that it is kind of a pain to remove from a lens, and in fact you have to figure out how to remove it because there are no instructions provided. (There is a small black lever on the camera side of the adapter that you have to hold down to release the lens. It isn't easy to press the lever down and twist the lens at the same time, but with a little practice you get used to it.) Another thing that is worth knowing is that not all Nikon F lenses will actually mount and be usable on your Canon camera even with an adapter. This is not the adapter's fault. Some lenses have parts that stick out the back end and may (on some camera models) interfere with the motion of the reflex mirror, or even prevent the lens from being attached by bumping into some part of the camera's insides. It's best to do some research online first to find out whether a lens you're interested in will work with your camera.

No Down-side...
This adapter is very good. I have used adapters from various manufacturers for Pentax M42 & K mount, Olympus OM, and this by far is the most solid, well-made adapter I have seen. The lens mounts securely to the adapter. The adapter mounts securely to the camera. There is no "slop" in the fit. The adapter stays locked to the lens so you can treat the lens just like any other Canon lens (with regard to mounting and unmounting). As usual, one must focus manually (like photographers did for 100 years...) and set the exposure manually (though my Canon TTL meter works in AV and M modes allowing reasonable easy exposure setting). As some have correctly pointed out, there are lenses that may be incompatible with your camera - best to research this before you purchase the adapter and especially, before you mount the lens and find out something "hits". I am using this to mount a Zörk Panorama Shift Adapter (PSA) to a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. It works perfectly. Since this set-up is essentially an adapter-mounted-to-an-adapter-mounted-to-a-lens, the amount of "slop" could be multiplied. But because both adapters are high quality, the lens feels solidly mounted to the camera with no looseness - just what is needed for precise infinity-focus and a flat field aligning with the sensor. It exceeds my best expectation! The added bonus for me is that I can now share my PSA with my Nikon-toting friend, and he can share his Nikon lenses with me! This item is well worth the price, and comes highly recommended!
