A Speech Therapist's Review
I am a school-based speech therapist working with K-5, and recently added Funny Bunny to my speech room. This game was an absolutely instant hit with my students! Funny Bunny has an attractive set up, is easy to learn, and promotes great turn-taking and sportsmanship skills. What’s not to love? Although my review is written from an educator's perspective, please note that Funny Bunny would be a great addition to any family game collection. Contents & Objective: Funny Bunny is recommended for ages 5 and up and can be played with 2-4 players. The game consists of a game board, 24 cards, and 16 bunny figures in four colors. The board consists of a 3-dimensional base shaped like a hill. Little pavers lead up to a carrot at the top of the hill. The goal of the game is to be the first player to get their bunny to the carrot without falling into treacherous holes along the way. Game Play: All players start with four of their bunnies at the base of the hill. On their turn they pick a card from the top of the deck. There are two different types of cards: bunny cards indicating how many spaces players get to move, and carrot cards. When players pick a bunny card, they move one of their bunnies according to the number of spaces shown on the card (one, two, or three). If players get a carrot card, they need to spin the carrot. This is where it gets interesting: spinning the carrot causes holes to appear on the game board. If a player’s bunny is on a space that is turning into a hole, the bunny will fall in and the player needs to start over. Players can also choose to have multiple bunnies on the board at the same time. For example, if a player receives a card that allows them to move one space but that space is a hole, they may choose to move a new bunny onto the board. My students loved the suspense of finding out where the hole would appear next when a carrot card was drawn. Quality: I am used to Ravensburger games being high quality, and this product is no different. The base is solidly constructed. Just be mindful that the carrot only spins one way (if you force it the wrong way, it might break). The cards are somewhat thin, so if you are planning to use this game a lot (i.e. a classroom setting), you may want to consider laminating them for additional durability. Educational value for Speech Therapy and Beyond: Funny Bunny a great game to work on planning and strategizing, as some spaces are “safe” and other spaces have the potential to become holes. Players should move their bunnies in such a way to avoid the unsafe spaces. One of the pros for educators about this game is that the game uses cards instead of a die. That way, you can “rig” the game and manipulate the deck to control whether a player will fall into a hole or not. With some practice, you will be able to predict which space will be a hole next, so you can further manipulate the game. That way, if you have students who are sore losers, you can purposely let them fall into a hole to work on sportsmanship (yes, it’s kind of mean, but a skill many of my students need to work on). To make this game more challenging, you could add the rule that you can only have one bunny on the board at a time. Funny Bunny is also a great choice for younger students working on specific speech therapy targets such as Final Consonant Deletion. You can have them practice words like “hop”, “carrot”, “spot”, “rabbit”, “top”, “in”, etc. You can also target positional concepts, including “under”, “on top”, “in”, “in front”, “behind”, and “between”. The versatility of this game makes Funny Bunny a great choice for any therapy setting. The game is easy to learn, and even my cognitively lower functioning Kindergarteners grasped the rules quickly. It is definitely a winner in my speech room this Spring! Please note that I received this game gratis in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.

A Children's Game for the Whole Family
My kids love, love, love this game! More importantly, my wife and I don't mind playing this with the kids. In fact, we enjoy it. We are a card and board game family and are often on the hunt for board games for children (4-8 years old) that are fun not just for kids but for adults too. For any parent with small children, this is often like searching for a needle in a haystack! Enter Funny Bunny, an update to the original Funny Bunny (1999). Now the game includes a mole, a gate, and a bridge – not just moving holes in the board. You'd think those minor updates wouldn't make a big difference, but indeed they do. They provide choices of risk, which this entire game is about mitigating risk while trying to stay ahead of other players. While the rules as written do mostly rely on luck (though not entirely), there are easy house rules you can add to spice up game play for older children. For instance, rather than each player drawing one card and doing the action, you can decide that each player has a hand or 3 or 4 cards to choose from each turn. This allows for more control and decisions for each player. We have also played with a house rule that states that if the bridge is up, but there is a player in the position directly before the bridge, you may bounce over this player and cross the stream. There are quite a few more variations that are easy to think up and implement, so make your own! Even with an extra rule or two, the game is dead simple to teach. My 4 year old has no problem playing this game with just some minor coaching.

Delightful
The 6 year olds love this. It's extra fun if the adults purposely put their bunnies in danger, so the kids can knock them out.

Great toddler game
Simple concept, exciting board, frustration free gameplay. My three year old immediately understood how to play. He can "read" his own cards and move his pieces independently. He doesn't mind the traps. He actually LIKES when his pieces fall and he loses them for the rest of the game. He finds it funny and he loves turning the carrot. He never cares who wins because at the end, no matter who won, we all take our bunnies to the carrot for a carrot feast to celebrate the winner. (Woohooing, miming eating and making nom sounds. It's our silly addition.) So it's really developed his sportsmanship despite not being a collaborative game. This game is attractive, sturdy, easy to play, and fun. (Even for adults.) Get it.

fun for multiple ages
This is really fun. We all enjoy it. The little gate broke right away - kid's fault - but we just made a house rule that if you land there, you slide down. We took it apart more than once trying to glue the gate back on and we were able to put it all back together with no problems and it still works great.

Wonderful board game for everyone
This is an awesome board game! Easy to learn but stays very exciting and there is a little strategy involved too! Our players age ranged from 6 to 86 years old and everyone had fun. Everytime you turn the mountain the board changes, which keeps it interesting. One thing we all appreciated is there are multiple way to win, even if you get knocked out you have other bunny’s to keep playing. Can’t say enough good things about this game. It was a perfect Easter Day present. 10/10 recommend (especially for 5 year old)

Love this game! I am always looking for games to use with my son for speech therapy and aba. It's hard to choose and we have had some duds. This game is great. He loves to play it. He's learning how to count, take turns and even how to be a good sport when he doesn't win. We use 2 bunnies per player not 4 bunnies as it gets too crowded on the board. My son is almost 5 and he can play this every other day. Other kids like it too. I think they love turning the carrot and if a bunny drops down the hole they laugh Iike crazy.

I brought this for my grandsons 3rd birthday and he loves it. Quickly got the hang of the rules and loved turning the carrot to see if any of the rabbits fell down a hole. Great for young children to learn all about taking turns, winning & losing and being in the lead whilst having great fun.
