Best source of publishers for writers to have
Fast ship thru Amazon. Writer's Market is the best source for writers of all types whether occasional or full time. Good for both book & article authors Publishers remarks are very helpful. Read what editors want to the public location you're interested in writing for, it will help in getting your mss actually read. Some magazines are almost exclusively .com in house. Don't bother with those despite how much you want your byline there. I less you're an experienced writer (usually famous) with a long byline list, you won't break in here. For newbies, concentrate on the smaller markets to get writing samples & recorded bylines. No one starts at the top of any profession, writing included. If an editor takes the time to actually edit your submission, even if it wasn't accepted, accept the edits as positive critism and learn from those.

A Must-Have for the Writer
There are wonderful articles and advice updated for each edition, and among other things it includes information about agents, publishers, magazines, trade journals, and contests and awards. Quite comprehensive, and a powerful tool for the writer. If the price is a little steep for those on a budget, you can get by with the previous year's edition for less money.

Not All Current
May be a good resource, but in one day of use I've run into these outdated and incorrect entries:1. BLOGGING BASICS article by Robert Lee Brewer, page 65. Good advice in the article, but the Blog he references (his own blog) hasn't been published to in almost 2.5 years (Sept 2017). An old article run in WM for 3 years?2. Page 412, ORGANIC LIFE magazine, went out of print in 2014 or 15 but is still listed. Website given doesn't exist.3. Page 411, AMERICAN FITNESS. Wrong website listed, but when you track down the correct one, current issues of the magazine are available online and list different editorial staff than are listed in WM, which Editor (MJ) isn't even in the masthead for the current mag.4. Page 683, HUMAN RESOURCE EXECUTIVE. Again, website given, hronline dot com doesn't exist. When you track down what website/magazine this could be referencing, you see the editorial staff (and website) are way out of data in this book.5. Page 412, IMPACT MAGAZINE. Editor in Chf doesn't work at mag anymore, isn't listed on its current masthead which is readily available on Impact's site. Email address is assigned to a different magazine staffer.Sure, there are disclaimers given about how the book was current at time of publication and that it relies on 3rd parties, etc., but since above are 80% of the entires I looked at out of interest/applicability today, I'd guess the book has gone a bit of out of use for mags and publishers β it was probably once a big deal to make sure your info in the book was correct and up to date, but it looks to me like that time is no more, and that the book staff haven't verified it in some time.So... don't be one of the 'up-to-date' freelancers querying and pitching editors who don't even work somewhere anymore.

My daughter loved it
I bought it for my daughter who is a writer & thought this would help her to decide what area she wants to study toward grad school. She found it very helpful in viewing other careers in writing.

Not Enough Canadian Content
I was disappointed. I searched for Canadian Trade Magazines but found mostly US content. As a writer in Canada it was of little help.
