Exceptional little piece of Hardware
I read nearly all the reviews on this little tool and decided that more than enough folks had found it functional to take a chance on it. Not much of a chance really as it costs next to nothing. If it didn't work, no great loss. If it did, then a great buy... Work? Oh yeah! Right out of the box this minuscule unit hooked up to 11 different old hard drives that have been sitting in a box for as much as 18 years in one case. Worked with every single one of them! Set up and connection is child's play for a lobotomized sea slug. Someone in one review complained that the instructions weren't adequate. Apparently that reviewer is the type of person who has issues with 'Insert tab A into slot B'. It's that simple. All you need to be aware of with older drives is the jumper position ( remember jumpers? ). With Western Digital brand drives, remove the jumper entirely for 'Single'. On the other brands I had ( Seagate, Maxtor, Quantum), I found that setting the jumper to 'Master' was correct. It takes a minute or two for your PC to recognize the USB connection just like any USB device. When it does, a drive letter is assigned to the now active drive and you can read the Directories, Files and other data just as if it was a standard internal or external drive. That data can be transferred to other drives in your system just as with any drive to drive data transfers. The unit comes with a variety of power connectors for the various power connections on different types of drives. Simply put, this inexpensive little tool is a big, powerful piece of hardware. No techno geek, computer nerd or long time power user with boxes full of long silent hard drives should be without this little gem. As for any IT guys who never know what they will run into on the job, it could be a lifesaver. The whole unit and all cables fit in a 4"x8"x2" box and weighs less than a Quarter Pounder with cheese. No excuse not to have one in your emergency computer repair kit.

Excellent for cloning hard drives
I have used this adapter for years. I worked for a small brokerage company and when Windows XP was no longer supported we had to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro. I set up one computer with all of the required software and then used this adapter from Kingwin to clone the hard drive to another hard drive to be placed in the other user's computers. It worked flawlessly and there were no problems with any of the other installations. One reason I used this adapter versus others is that this one is not only USB 3.0, but it has 2 SATA ports and 1 IDE port instead of 2 IDE ports and 1 SATA port like some other adapters I looked at. I just recently upgraded an old HP laptop to a new SSD hard drive. Because it is an older model, installing Windows 10 was not working (it would not work with Windows 11 according to Microsoft). There were driver problems and unrecognized hardware problems. I used this adapter to clone the old hard drive to the new SSD hard drive and the laptop is working better than ever. I am so impressed by what this adapter has enabled me to do with it, I bought a second one just in case I lose this one or I manage to break it!

Faulty connector caused random errors, but easy fix after cause found
I purchased this Kingwin EZ-Clone USI-2534CLU3 adapter to connect some internal 3.5" 16TB drives externally via USB so I could consolidate the data from several older, smaller backup drives. I eventually got it to work smoothly, but it was definitely quite tricky. When I first tried to use the adapter, the IDE/SATA activity LED would sometimes randomly stop blinking during a copy operation and remain stuck on, usually after about 10 minutes of use. The adapter would then become inoperative as the USB Mass Storage Device driver on my Windows 10 PC crashed at the same time. This happened three times before I started troubleshooting, and several more before I figured out the cause. Every time the driver crashed the Windows Event Viewer would log a handful of different disk errors, the most common one being: Event ID 51 - An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR2 during a paging operation. I would then have to pull the USB cable, power cycle the adapter, and reboot the drive, Then I had to do a scan and repair operation on the drive, which would take about an hour and a half. Sometimes the scan results showed no errors found, other times it indicated repaired errors, and a few times it had to be run more than once to get the drive back to normal. I also had to find and replace the final file being copied during each crash, as it was usually corrupted. I tried several steps to troubleshoot, including replacing the cable with a USB 2.0 version, replacing the cable with a high-quality USB 3.0 version, and replacing the AC adapter with one which included a ferrite core filter. All of these steps improved, but did not eliminate, the problem. The last two combined actually improved it enough so that I could copy for a few days at a time before the adapter would randomly lock up. Then at one point, I accidentally bumped the USB cable slightly during a copy operation, and the adapter instantly locked up. This was a valuable clue. When I examined the USB type-B receptacle on the adapter, I could tell that the two spring tabs which make the ground shield connection to the USB cable plug were sprung outward and did not make a tight connection. Losing the ground connection during a data transfer can cause EMI to bleed into the system and produce random data errors. So I used a stiff needle to bend the two grounding tabs further toward the center of the receptacle, making them grip the USB plug tighter. After doing this I had no more problems, and could even shake the USB plug all around in the receptacle while copying without any errors or lock-ups. Other than this one irritating problem, which now seems to be fixed, the adapter works very well.

Plug and play!
Great adapter for the price. Used it to grab files off a super old (only 60GB) IDE hard drive, and it worked great. Haven't tried the other two connectors (2.5IDE or SATA), or the One Touch Backup button (and I wouldn't trust that button anyway), but I have no reason to believe they wouldn't work just as well. Also, it's nice that they included power adapters for both SATA and IDE (Molex) so you don't have to worry about hooking it up to your computer power supply. The quality of the physical components is pretty good- I wouldn't worry about anything wearing out or breaking with normal use. And all the cables are designed so that they'll only fit the way they're supposed to go, so there's no worries there. Overall a very convenient tool, well worth the price IMO.

works great. windows recognizes it right away. made hooking up external drives a breeze. very fast transfer times. works on usb 2.0 and usb 3.0. nice that it comes apart and i can use the usb 3.0 cable for my other devices. fastest shipping i have ever had. wickedly good price for the product. cable is snug and does not fall out when moved.

Es muy útil y esta súper completo, fácil de utilizar. Otros productos son por separado y mucho más caros. Es de metal, lo que deja una buena confianza de calidad en materiales.

Great product. Plugged it in and it worked just as it should, what more could you ask from it really. One thing I didn't think of though, and it's no fault of the product, is that you can't just read all the info off your old hard drive if there was a password on it. I just googled it and unlocked it. But the product seems to be good quality and easy to use, you can literally read any hard drive with it.
